PIPING WORKS
FWBS CODE : 6000
GENERAL
(1) Unless otherwise noted, the following measurement methods and units shall be applied to
the piping works which are defined in ANNEX-1.
(2) The quantities defined herein shall be "Net" based on JGC's drawings and/or specifications
unless otherwise noted.
(3) The work progress for payment shall be added up as and when all the steps of work in
sequence are finished and JGC's final inspection is executed with a satisfactory result.
(4) The prices shall not be adjusted subject to a difference of pipe wall thickness, welding
method, length of supplied pipes or height of working places.
(5) The prices shall not be adjusted subject to a welding joint configuration such as pipe to
pipe, pipe to fitting, fitting to fitting and the like.
(6) Any temporary weldings, temporary spool pieces and spacers shall not be measured.
6100 Prefabrication
6110 Fabrication and Field Shop Inch-Dia.
(1) It shall be measured by inch diameter ("Dia.) of shop welding taken off from the
working drawings approved by JGC.
Inch-Diameter (I.D.) : Pipe Nominal Diameter x Joints
6" Dia x 6 Joints = 36 I.D.
(3) Any supplementary weldings to the pipe such as lugs, cables etc., shall not be
measured except pipe supports which are to be measured in the category
6400.
(4) Rewelding of whole or a part of piping which has resulted from welding defects
shall not be measured. If re-shooting of radiographic examination is
necessitated due to the rewelding, such costs shall be back-charged to the
Contractor.
(5) Note: Plastic Resin (GRE) shall be measured by meter per pipe size.
(1) Inch-Piece is defined as the nominal diameter of the pipe in question multiplied
by the number of bending points.
(2) Any differences of bending angles shall not be considered for measurement.
FWBS 6000
(3) It shall be measured from working drawings approved by JGC for shop bending.
(4) Re-bending which resulted from a defect of the bending due to the
Contractor's fault shall not be measured.

6500 Tracing
-6501 C.S. Tube Meter
(1) It shall be measured by length in meter of the process and/or utility pipes on
which tracing tubes are being installed and multiplied by number of tracing
tubes as follows:
(a) the tracing tube length between the outlet of the valve manifold and the
starting point of the tracing tube on the principal process/utility Pipes, and
(b) the tracing tube length between the end of the principal process/utility pipes
and the inlet point of the drain header.
(3) The length of the tube to be measured in meters under this FWBS shall apply for
all tracing tubes irrespective of their sizes.
(4) The piping work between the steam header and the valve manifold, and at the
FWBS 6000
condensate/drain header shall be measured under the FWBS 6100 and/or 6200.
(5) In line with the principle of measurement outlined in (2) above, all piping work in
place of tubing work, in case where it exists, between the utility/process pipes
and valve manifold as well as between utility/process pipes and
condensate/drain header inlet shall not be measured.
(1) It shall be measured by the number of joints which are inspected by Radiographic
Inspection & the results of which are accepted by JGC. It shall also be measured
for shop welding point and field welding point respectively. In case of for pad or
support, the size shall be determined by the pipe size on which the pad or support
is installed.
(2) Any reshooting due to the Contractor's fault such as unclearness, poor quality and
the like shall not be measured.
(3) Additional inspection for weld joints due to the Contractor's faulty welding shall
not be measured.
(1) This work shall be enumerated per systems or packages for pressure testing
purpose. Progress will be broken down as follows: test documentation 10%,
test completion 60%, system reinstatement 30%.
(2) The measurement shall be enumerated regardless of test media, test pressure,
pipe thickness, and test location.
(3) The repetition of tests due to the Contractor's fault shall not be measured.
(4) Any temporary piping installed for testing purpose shall not be measured.
The same measurement principles as stated in 6810 shall be applied by replacing the
word "test" by "drying".
(1) First welding joint on installed branch line side shall not be regarded as tie-in joint
but shall be measured as in the work of category 6200 as illustrated in Figure-1 of
this ANNEX.
(2) Tie-in with existing flange or valve flange as illustrated in Figure-2 of this ANNEX
shall not be regarded as tie-in joint but be included in the work of category 6200.
(3) Any piping work related to the first welding joint on branch line shall be
included in the categories FWBS 6100 through 6800.
6X00 Demolition LM
It shall be measured by center-line length of pipes completely demolished & disposed
to Company designated location.
Demolition shall include all types of fittings, in-line valves, in-line instruments, insulation
and pipe supports.
