On-the-job Training (Webinar)

NARRATIVE REPORT

 On-the-job training or OJT is a method when the students are given the
opportunity to be deployed in companies/workplace related to their respective
specialties and apply theories and skills that they have learned in school.

However, because of COVID-19 pandemic, traditional on-site OJT/internships

are prohibited to prioritize the health and safety of the students, as well as the members
of our campus community. Instead, the BPSU Dean of College of Technology, Dr.
Cesar Gonzales and OJT Coordinator, Mr. Noel Hipolito facilitated a one-day webinar
held on May 26, 2021 in cooperation of Nexem EMD Technologies Philippines, Inc.
located at Calamba, Laguna which enable us to broaden our knowledge on our course.

Ms. Charriza Mutya Arjona, HR of Nexem EMD Technologies, first discussed the
company profile. She then introduced the guest speakers from the same company to
impart their expertise on the students. Following are the highlights of the webinar:

 First Speaker (Engineer Mc Limuel Gojit Alcaraz)

- He discussed the overview of Electrical Power Distribution System and
Electrical Components which includes load break switch, fuse, transformers
and main distribution board.

 Second Speaker (Mr. Louis Balbago)

- He continued the discussion on Electrical Distribution System which
comprises of definition and advantages of Main Vacuum Circuit Breaker
(MVCB), distribution pole and Load Break Switch (LBS), transformer, Main
Distribution Board (MDB) and importance of electrical maintenance.

 Third Speaker (Engineer Les Diosdado B. Mallari)

- He introduced the overview of Danfoss Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and
discussed on how it works and can save electricity. He noted that buying a
good quality VFD is an investment.

 Fourth Speaker (Engineer Albert Revilla)

- He talked about the basic knowledge on electromechanical relay which is a
switching device used to switch on high current/power load using relatively
small power. He also incorporates its parts, assembly, specific relay
according to customer needs and load requirement, operation principle and
application.

 Fifth Speaker (Mr. Angelo Rodriguez)

- He shared the overview of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and
demonstrated its functions, procedures, principles and how it works. He even
imparted on how to make basic PLC schematic diagrams.

I would like to thank all the facilitators from BPSU Campus and guest speakers
from Nexem EMD Technologies Philippines, Inc. who generously impart their
knowledge to us and became part of this fruitful webinar. Thank you and God bless.
