Building needs will be identified through data desegregation of behavior referrals and logs. Problematic behavior
patterns and locations will be identified through the data to guide the creation of the comprehensive PBIS matrix.
The school improvement plan will be used as a rubric to guide all decision making.
Objectives:
Establish a leadership team that will assist administration to:
• build capacity of all stakeholders’ understanding of school wide PBIS
• establish core values and expectations for the building
• identify positive rewards to motivate students
• build a dynamic communication tool for all stakeholders
• create an extensive resource file for all staff to access

Develop a multi-tiered framework for establishing the social culture and behavioral supports needed for a school to
achieve behavioral and academic outcomes for all students.

Create a comprehensive behavior matrix using consistent language for all areas of the school that is agreed upon by
all stakeholders.

Establish systematic behavior referral forms for Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and a separate Office
Referral Form to be used by all staff members.
Provide ongoing professional development to all stakeholders to sustain success of school wide PBIS
implementation throughout entire year.
Evaluation Strategies
Leadership Team – Leadership Team will participate in district and county PD that will build capacity of school
wide PBIS information to assist members in training building staff. Leadership Team will participate in monthly
guided activities provided by district and county leaders to guide leadership understanding throughout the year.
Leadership Team will discuss activities with the district and county leaders each month to further understanding
and next steps in staff training. District and county leaders will serve as mentors to the leadership team.
School Improvement Team – School Improvement Team will work closely with the Leadership Team to create a
matrix for the PBIS school wide goal. School Improvement Team will collect data to measure the usage of PBIS
throughout the building with all teachers and students. This team will share their data with all stakeholders. The
team will monitor state document and report to staff. Areas of deficit will be addressed and improved upon.

Building Staff – All staff will participate in surveys, documenting PBIS lessons in lesson plans, updating PD logs,
attending monthly meetings, and participating in school-wide training days to better monitor and assess school
wide PBIS understanding, usage, and success.

Students – Students will participate in surveys and school wide training to understand all behavior expectations
throughout the school. Data from classroom and office referrals will be collected and analyzed to determine
success of the school wide PBIS model throughout the school.

Professional Learning – Building communication (PBIS SMORE) will be emailed to staff weekly / biweekly to
update professional learning opportunities available through multiple avenues. Staff will document personal
professional learning through a PBIS log that can be used for School Improvement documentation.
Focused and Sustained Time
The establishment of leadership teams, team training, development, implementation, and evaluation of the school
wide PBIS model will take place over a 2-year period. The 2021-2022 school year will be used to collect data and
begin the discussion for the need of a comprehensive multi-tiered framework for establishing the social culture and
behavioral supports needed for a school to achieve behavioral and academic outcomes for all students. The
establishment of the PBIS Leadership Team will be created by April of 2022. This team will work closely with the
School Improvement Team to learn the school wide Title1documentation process. This process and documentation
will help to guide the work that will continue through summer planning. Leadership teams will meet over the
summer to plan PBIS PD for 2022-2023 school year. Administration, leadership teams, district/county teams,
building staff, and students will develop, implement, and evaluate program during the year. Training will continue
each year as a refresher for new staff and students. Regular building-wide training will be planned to review
behavior expectations. Regular communication will be sent home to all families to assure common language and
expectations with all stakeholders.

Professional Development Strategies

Leadership Team – Leadership team will attend monthly district/county PBIS training at the MISD. Information
gathered at the training will be shared with the building staff each month. Resource files will be created throughout
the year as reference tools for all stakeholders.

School Improvement Team – School Improvement Team will attend the same training as the Leadership Team at
the district and county level. The school improvement plan will include a PBIS goal that insures school-wide
fidelity. School Improvement Team will also meet monthly with district leadership to complete state documents
that are of high quality.

Building Staff – Professional development will be provided by the school leadership team, school improvement
team, and administration monthly. All staff meetings will include information that relates to the building mission,
vision, and plan that has been decided upon by the staff. Teachers will complete quick surveys through forms that
give consistent feedback to the professional develop leaders that will be used to guide their discussions each month.

Students – Ongoing learning opportunities for students will happen in their classrooms, specials, and all areas of
the building. All staff will use common language and expectations to teach and model positive behavior
expectations. Students will have behavior matrix information to share with their families. Posters will be posted
throughout the building to refer to throughout the day. School-wide training days will happen 3 times a year to
review and practice behavior expectations in all areas of the school.

Community– Administration will provide PBIS information to families and community members through multiple
tools such as school website, school Facebook page, email, and newsletters. The community and families will
understand that we are partners in creating a positive learning environment for all learners!
Follow-up

Administrative Support: Building and district administration will support the implementation of the school wide
PBIS initiative by providing all staff with dedicated time to discuss, plan, implement, collect, and review data, and
revise plan as needed throughout the year. Building and district administration will demonstrate a commitment to
the success of the school wide PBIS model by providing consistent collaborative opportunities that gather
information from ALL stakeholders. Building and district administration will listen, reflect, and support the needs
of all stakeholders by sharing ongoing communication throughout entire year.

District Support: Administration, leadership teams, and staff will collaboratively work with other schools within
the district that have successfully implemented School-wide PBIS in their school. Administration and the district
will allow for sub coverage for all staff to visit classrooms, schools, and staff training throughout the district to help
with the growth of the program at their school.
County Support: County support will be available by phone or email when needed to support building initiatives.
County leaders will also help the school by participating in staff training, school observations, and follow up
surveys from all stakeholders. County leaders will work closely with administration to determine the needs of all
stakeholders throughout the year with monthly check-ins.

State Support: State leaders in the field of school wide PBIS will be available for reference for administration.
Administration will utilize state if needed.

Opportunities for Study: Administration and leadership teams will work to create a Teams Resource File for all
staff to access throughout year. The file will contain professional articles, book resources, online learning
opportunities, presentations, and videos. This resource will be used for ongoing professional development for all
interested staff members.

Professional Learning: Teachers will have the opportunity to participate in multiple leadership committees that
will help to guide decisions based on collected data (PBIS Leadership Team, Data Team, School Improvement
Team)
Teachers who are unable to take a leadership role will participate in school wide professional learning through
mandatory staff and data meetings 2x a month. A Teams folder will be created to collect all documents that are
created throughout the year. The PBIS folder will contain an Introduction of the program, Core Values, Behavior
Expectations, Positive Rewards, Parent Communication, Teaching Behavior Expectations, Referral Forms &
Resources, Tier 1 Toolbox, and Tier II Toolbox. The PBIS folder will also contain videos and lessons for teachers
to refer to throughout the year that will help in furthering their understanding.

Dedication of Time: Schedules will be designed to include time for weekly meetings, monthly committee work,
monthly data team meetings, school wide student training. Professional development will be ongoing. The school
improvement plan, PBIS plan, and all school initiatives will be interwoven together to create a positive culture
throughout the school.

Evaluation: Teachers and students will reflect 3x a year on the progress of the implementation school wide PBIS
through surveys. PBIS Leadership Team will desegregate behavior data monthly to share with staff during staff
meeting time. Data will be used to guide monthly training.

August 2022
Staff Meeting – Welcome staff back to school. Administration and leadership team will share PBIS data that was
collected throughout the 2021-2022 year. Behavior data will be shared. Teachers will participate in data collecting
survey to better guide professional development throughout the year.
PBIS Committee Meeting- Team will analyze results of survey to begin the work of planning the training,
development, and implementation of the PBIS model in the school with staff and students.
Data Team Meeting- Administration will review all data collection expectations for the school year. Assessment
schedules will be shared. Progress monitoring tools will be reviewed. All staff will understand, be able to
administer and desegregate the data collected from the agreed upon assessments.

September 2022
Staff Meeting – This plan assumes that teachers understand the PBIS model. A program existed in the building
years prior. The goal of administration and the leadership team is to create a comprehensive plan that all
stakeholders are proud of. Administration will dedicate staff meeting time to discuss the school improvement plan
that includes a PBIS goal that was agreed upon the year prior. The team will work throughout the year to build the
plan will all stakeholders in a slow, methodical manner.
PBIS Committee Meeting – Goal of the team will be clarifying a school PBIS goal, map out a year-long PD
calendar, invite members to join leadership teams
Data Team Meeting – All staff will attend a monthly data team meeting that focusing on analyzing the data that
was requested by administration. The September meeting begins the process as a check in for all teachers. Data is
analyzed from the year prior. NWEA reports and other digging deeper assessments are discussed
Student Training – Welcome students back for the 2022-2023 school year. Administer the student perception
survey.
PBIS Rewards / Assembly- All students and staff attend a welcome back to school assembly that will set the
framework for the PBIS model that will be developed and implemented throughout the year.

October 2022
Staff Meeting – Administration and leadership team will share results from staff and student surveys taken in
September. Expectations will be identified from the data collected. Staff will begin participating in monthly PBIS
PD at all staff meetings.
PBIS Committee Meeting – PBIS rubric is analyzed to determine the expectations of a quality program. Team
will work with district and county leadership to develop, train, and implement the plan into the school.
Data Team Meeting – NWEA data and beginning of the year data is brought to a grade level meeting to be
desegregated. Groups are identified in classrooms and grade level, behavior matrix expectations are discussed to
build consistency throughout the school.
Student Training - School identifies leadership teams that the students can take part in throughout the year.
Applications are sent out for students to complete. Each student leadership team has a teacher or parent mentor
who supervises those activities. Teams will meet 1-2 times a month.
PBIS Rewards / Assembly – Monthly assemblies will be planned to recognize students for academics, citizenship,
and effort (ACE) These assemblies will also be used to model PBIS expectations for the month.

November 2022
Staff Meeting – PBIS resources will be shared with all staff, including PBIS binder, building online resources,
behavior matrix. Teachers will take active roles in understanding the expectations in all areas. The staff has
complete confidence and commitment in the PBIS Leadership Team. Consistent communication and feedback
from all stakeholders guide decisions to assure total participation and buy in. Teachers will be trained on the
matrix expectations and student training will be discussed. Consistency is key in developing the social culture and
behavioral expectations needed throughout the entire school.
PBIS Committee Meeting – District/County PD – Team will attend monthly meetings. PD will train the team on
the continuous school improvement plan and PBIS model to be incorporated in the building. The mentors of the
district and county will give the team tasks to take back to the building to complete and bring back the following
month
Data Team Meeting – Administration will check in with grade levels to discuss progress monitoring with both
academic and behavior concerns. Students will set personal goals in both areas. Teachers will share goals with
families during parent teacher conferences.
Student Training – Leadership teams begin working with their teacher/parent mentors and setting expectations for
building. Students work in their teams to create posters to hang throughout the school to help inform students of
PBIS expectations

December 2022
Staff Meeting - Administration and Leadership Team continues to offer PD for the PBIS process. Scaffolding of
all training occurs each month. Staff will work in teams to review the building behavior management flowchart
along with referral forms and resources. Staff will provide feedback and appropriate adjustments will be made.
PBIS Committee Meeting – Creates a building wide PBIS training schedule to be done in January after the
students return from holiday break.
Data Team Meeting – Students are preparing for January NWEA testing schedules. Administration checks in with
grade levels to determine needs of teachers, analyze progress monitoring data, adjust school supports where needed
to promote success. PBIS initiatives are discussed in all grade levels. Behavior logs and referrals are reviewed.
Areas of concern are addressed and solutions to issues are discussed.
Student Training- Students review PBIS matrix in all areas of the school prior to school wide celebrations.
Student leadership teams take an active role in the school monitoring behavior by modeling expectations. They are
positive behavior hunters!

January 2023
Staff Meeting – Mid year survey administered to staff to determine staffing PD needs on PBIS goals along with
School Improvement needs. Staff will participate in district wide professional development. Staff choice will
allow for differentiation of needs in training.
PBIS Committee Meeting – Team analyzes results of survey to guide future PD. The survey results will also be
shared with the district/county mentors.
Data Team Meeting – Grade Level teams bring NWEA data to meeting to be analyzed. Teams look at data to
determine trends or patterns in scores and behavior. Teams will discuss changes that need to happen to continue
positive growth in academics and behavior for the remainder of the year.
Student Training – School wide training day happens. Students participate in matrix training in all areas of the
schools while following the building wide training schedule.

February 2023
Staff Meeting – Survey results shared, PBIS PD continues, review of referral forms and resources, check in check
out teacher recommendation form discussed. Check in Check Out Recommendation (CICO) allows a teacher to
document how many referrals the student has, how many times a parent has been contacted, and what interventions
have occurred to help the student’s success. All staff works together to build consistency with behavior
expectations and communication with families.
PBIS Committee Meeting - District/County PD – Team will attend monthly meetings. PD will train the team on
the continuous school improvement plan and PBIS model to be incorporated in the building. The mentors of the
district and county will give the team tasks to take back to the building to complete and bring back the following
month – SWISS Data Collection will be discussed. Building is working on collecting data and will now learn how
to track data electronically.
Data Team Meeting – All NWEA and progress monitoring data will be desegregated to determine new groups for
classrooms. PBIS discussion will focus on grade level referrals and what interventions are taking place to address
behaviors. Recommendations will be made to assure success.
Student Training -

March 2023
Staff Meeting – State Assessment Training, PBIS scaffolding, PBIS resource discussion. March Is Reading Month.
Administration will work with staff in finding books that represent excellent student resources for behavior lessons
within the school. Teachers will be encouraged to have students become book detectives, looking for positive
behaviors that are exhibited by characters in all stories.
PBIS Committee Meeting – District/County PD, uploading of documents, Title 1 requirements, PBIS, School
Improvement correlations to academic and behavioral success. District/county mentors continue to provide
resources for teams to take back to build staff capacity in PBIS development, implementation, and evaluation.
Data Team Meeting- Teachers will work with administration and PBIS leadership team to look at productive
student engagement within the classroom. Goal of the PBIS program and research is to create a positive
environment that will yield active participation, positive relationships, higher academic success, decreased
absenteeism, and a stronger sense of school identity and community. All staff will have collaborative conversations
to determine if these things are happening with the implementation of the program. Findings will be shared with all
grade levels and next steps will be determined.
Student Training – Weather begins to change. Teachers review PBIS matrix expectations in all areas of the school
as behavior referrals tend to increase. Consistent language and expectations from all staff members will provide a
positive culture of productive student engagement, student relationships.

April 2023
Staff Meeting – M-STEP begins, PBIS celebrated throughout building as all students in grades 3-6 test during the
same time. Administration stresses the importance of positive school climate which consists of a safe, supportive
learning environment that cultivates student success. The sense of community created by the positive culture will
be recognized by all staff and students. Positive rewards and incentives will be utilized.
PBIS Committee Meeting- District/county PD, analyze data shared in staff meetings along with data team
meetings, share out with district/county mentors. Continue to build team and staff capacity by updating binder and
online resources
Data Team Meeting – Discussion of state assessment needs, M-STEP practice, tools practice and discussion.
Administration stresses importance of promoting PBIS initiative during test taking times. Positive behavior will
yield positive assessment results.
Student Training – Student leadership teams work to create positive messages for all students in grades 3-6.
Messages can be placed on the desks of the students prior to the beginning of the test.

May 2023
Staff Meeting – Year in Review Staff Meeting – Staff is given final survey for the year. Data will be collected and
analyzed by the PBIS committee to determine next steps in training for the upcoming year. Staff perceptions are

PBIS Committee Meeting – Team will attend the final district/county PD. All documents will be shared and
celebrated. Team will work with district and county mentors to begin planning for the upcoming school year.
Data Team Meeting – Teachers will analyze final data at the end of the month to guide their decision making in
classroom assignments for the 2023-2024 school year.
Student Training – Applications for student leadership teams will be available for the 2023-2024 school year.
Teacher leaders will collect applications and create teams for the upcoming year during the June assembly. All
students who apply for a team will be given the opportunity to participate.

June 2023

PBIS Committee Meeting – Celebrations – collection and organization of all documents, upload all end of the
year training documents for summer reference.
Data Team Meeting – Teachers turn in all data and progress monitoring for Title 1 purposes. Student portfolios
will be placed in grade level boxes to be shared with next year’s teacher. Data will also be stored in digital form
for easy access.
Student Training – Student Leadership teams will be celebrated through team parties. Students will receive
certificates and thanks for participating.
