1.Most of the time I read (fashion) magazines and novels because I find them interesting.
I like the stories by  ……. because I like the way he builds up the story line and explores and
forms characters.
I don’ really like reading compulsory books for school because they’re boring but I have to do
it sometimes.
2. I almost never listen to the radio just when I am in the car because I prefer listening to my
favourite songs on my mobile. Sometimes I listen to the morning shows, request shows or
music charts. While travelling by car the radio can be useful because you can get information
about the weather, traffic jams, road accidents, road constructions or you can listen to the
news.
3. We have a computer at home and a laptop, too. My computer is new with internet
connection, good sound and video cards and a big monitor so that I can play computer games
online with my friends. I spend a lot of money on it because I need to improve it as the latest
games need more and more advanced technology. I spend a lot of time sitting in front of the
computer playing games, surfing the net, chatting with my friends or writing e-mails.
4. I don’t often watch TV because I don’t really have time, but at weekends I sometimes
watch films, quiz shows, series, sports or music programmes. I like the music and sports
channels and sometimes I watch Discovery. I prefer downloading the latest films and series
and watch them on my laptop.
5. We don’t have a video recorder any more, it is out of fashion now.  We have a DVD at
home, but we don’t use it because we prefer using our laptop instead.  And I can download
anything I want.

People go through different life stages during their lives. They are born, grow into small
children, teenagers and adults, finally they become elderly people before they die.
When people are babies, they are helpless and depend on adults. They sleep a lot, need care.
They slowly start to walk and talk. Small children learn about colours, objects, seasons,
animals. They go to kindergarten and play all day.
Teenagers become more and more independent, sometimes they are rebellious. They start to
form their own opinion, but they can be easily influenced. They are easily tempted into taking
drugs, drinking alcohol or smoking. They must decide about their future.
Adults are financially independent. They start a family and they are responsible for their
children and employees as well. Elderly people are wise. They can sit back and relax after
many years of working. They can spend more time with their hobbies and grandchildren.
Later they often become ill and feel lonely and depressed.
I will never forget when my little sister was born. I enjoyed helping my mother with the baby.
//
I will always remember my primary school graduation. We had a lovely ceremony and a big
party at home. I don’t know what it will be like when I get old, but I will do my best to live a
long and happy life.

1. I think it is very important to be aware of environmental problems like air and water
pollution, the greenhouse effect and the ozone layer. I always recycle rubbish, try to
save energy and water. We don’t have to do big things for example switching off the
lights in the rooms, switching off the TV or computer when we don’t use them, using
less water, going by bike or walk and not throwing litter away in the streets.
2. I believe car fumes can increase the greenhouse effect, destroy the ozone layer and
cause breathing problems. Instead of going by car we could use public transport in big
cities, use our bikes or walk in towns. There are some environmentally friendly means
of transport like tram, trolley, train or the underground because these run by electricity
and they don’t give off harmful gases.
3. The most well-known energy sources nowadays are fossil fuels such as coal, and oil
which are non-renewable and pollute the environment. But solar energy, wind, water
and geothermal energy are becoming more and more popular. We are running out of
traditional energy sources and the lack of fossil fuels will cause problems soon. Then
we will need the alternative, renewable energy sources.
4. I know some organisations such as Greenpeace and WWF (World Wide Foundation).
They try to save and protect the environment and endangered species by handing out
leaflets, organising protests, campaigns and trying to make people aware of global
warming.
5. It is important to protect the environment because in 50 or 100 years’ time we won’t
have enough food, water or energy. Rainforests are also very important because trees
produce oxygen which is our basic need.

People can use public or private transport. Private means of transport are cars, bicycles or
taxis. There are several forms of public transport to get around the city such as buses, trolleys,
trams, the underground or local trains.
In big cities too much traffic causes huge traffic jams, especially in rush hours. People use
their cars too much because travelling by bus, tram, trolley or the underground is not easy.
Many people think that cars are the fastest, easiest and the most comfortable way to get
around but it’s not true. There are too many cars, which cause traffic jams. The problem with
public transport is that they are always crowded, dirty or uncomfortable. I think the best way
of travelling is the underground because there are no traffic jams under the ground, and it is
fast and easy to use.
When you are travelling by public transport you have to buy a ticket, a season ticket or a
travel pass, you should validate it and keep till you get off. You can buy one from a ticket
machine, at newsagents or at ticket offices.
I live in a small town, so the only means of public transport is the local bus, which doesn’t run
often enough. So I use my bike or walk. Sometimes my parents take me by car.

1.  I think the telephone, the mobile, the TV and the computer are the greatest
technological inventions. Other important ones are the washing machine, dishwasher,
the satellite or the photocopier. The invention of the Internet was a milestone in the
history of technology.
2. Electrical devices such as the electric toothbrush, the hairdryer or the electric razor
surround us at home. The washing machine, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, the iron are
called labour saving devices because they save our time and energy and make our life
better. The most common electrical devices are used in the kitchen, like the toaster,
microwave, the fridge or the food mixer.
3.  We have a computer, a laptop, a tablet, a CD player, a TV, an MP3 player, a mobile
and I am very happy with them. Having a computer and a mobile means that I can
listen to music, play games, use the internet, chat with my friends, send messages,
watch films, download information and so on.
4. Before the washing machine and the dishwasher were invented people had to wash
their clothes and the dishes by hand. Before the light bulb they used candles. Before
the electric cooker they had to make fire to cook their food. Life was difficult without
the car for example. It’s not easy to keep up with the latest technological inventions
and the older generations are shocked or surprised by them.
5. I couldn’t live without my mobile because I am addicted to the internet and chatting
with my friends. I can’t imagine my life without my computer. Despite the fact that
computers and mobiles can be harmful to personal relationships, I’m convinced that
they are necessary and useful.

As Hungary is more than a thousand years old, there are a lot of famous historical sights.
They are worth visiting. Some of the most well-known ones are the Buda Castle, the old
village of Hollókő, the Caves of Aggtelek, the Abbey of Pannonhalma, Hortobágy National
Park, the Fertő Lake or the Tokaj Wine Region not to mention Lake Balaton.
A lot of entertainment and cultural facilities are offered for tourists. The country is famous for
its hospitality, wines and local dishes. Many programmes are organised such as concerts,
festivals, sports programmes and exhibitions.
I have visited many parts of Hungary so far and my favourite place is Buda which is the
oldest part of Bp. There are many things to see in the Castle-district, like the Matthias Church
and the Fisherman’s Bastion. From the top of Gellért hill there is an amazing view over the
city and the Danube.
I live in a small town so we don’t have a lot of sights but in the local museum you can see an
exhibition about Arany with his personal things. Outside the museum you can admire the
group of human statues called “The Great teaching Staff”.
There are wonderful parks in Nagykőrös, like Cifrakert and there is a boating lake which
attracts those looking for recreation and entertainment.
You can admire the beautiful string of squares in the town centre with new fountains. The
town has a sports centre, a cinema, pubs and cafés.

1. In winter and autumn a lot of people suffer from the flu, they catch a cold or have a
sore throat. In spring many people have allergies. Unfortunately cancer, high blood
pressure and diabetes are very common nowadays. Today’s stressful lifestyle often
causes headache, insomnia or depression.
2. I had the flu 5 months ago. I had a sore throat, runny nose, splitting headache, high
temperature and I felt dizzy. I went to see the doctor who examined me and prescribed
some medicine. I had to stay in bed for a week. Fortunately, I rarely pick up anything
thanks to doing sport and taking vitamins.
3. The best thing to do is to stay in bed, keep warm, drink a lot of tea with honey. I
always take my doctor’s advice to rest a lot so I can recover quickly.
4. People can easily get hurt, break their bones, sprain their ankle, get bruised, cut or
burn or scald themselves. Last time I broke my wrist while playing handball. I was
taken to hospital, the doctor X-rayed my hand and it was put in a plaster. Luckily, I
didn’t need an operation. It took 6 weeks to recover. If there’s an accident it is good to
know how to give first aid and what number to call. (emergency calls: ambulance, fire
brigade, police)
5. If you want to stay healthy you should live a healthy life, do sports, walk, take the
stairs. I personally think that eating fruit and vegetables and limiting sweets and junk
food is very important. The most powerful weapon against illnesses is a healthy diet.

Our school offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities so it’s not easy to choose. If you
are fond of music and can sin well, you can go to the school choir and become a member of a
good team which has frequent performances. The school drama club is very successful and
there are a lot of rehearsals. If you want to do sports, there are several sports teams.
These activities are good for teaching social skills because students are together. They can
learn how to cooperate with others, work in a team and rely on other students. They also can
improve their skills.
Taking up an extracurricular activity is good because students are interested in it or they are
also talented in that area. Some students are just bored, or they want to spend their free time in
a meaningful way. Sports are especially popular because they can move around after sitting in
class for hours.
I attend study circles in English because I’m interested in languages. I regularly go to
handball training sessions as well. I’m not interested in drama and I can’t sing or draw.

1. The climate in Hungary is continental, which means that we have four seasons,
winters are cold, spring weather is usually unpredictable, summers are hot and dry and
autumn is cool and wet. There are big differences between the seasons. The average
temperatures are between 8 and -12 degrees in winter and it goes up to 30 degrees in
summer.
2. Winters are generally freezing cold and snowy, people have to wear warm clothes like
winter coat, pullover, gloves, scarf, cap and boots. The warmest season is August and
the rainiest is October. In summer we often have thunder and lightning and heatwaves.
We wear a T-shirt, shorts, a skirt or a dress with sandals or flip-flops.
3. My favourite season is summer, because I can go on a holiday, there is no school. I
like swimming, sunbathing, going to parties with my friends. There is a lot of sunshine
and I don’t have to wear a lot of clothes.
4. I sometimes watch the weather forecast because I can choose my outfit and I can plan
my week. If I check the weather, I don’t get wet and it is also useful when I want to go
on a holiday, I know what to take with me. I can decide whether I need an umbrella or
a jacket.
5. It was warm …..
6. Climate change means that the Earth will warm up by a few degrees in the future.
Extreme weather conditions such as hurricanes and heavy storms are probably a result
of it. The greenhouse effect is a natural process, it means that the sun’s energy is kept
in the atmosphere and it heats the Earth up. The increase of carbon dioxide, cutting
down trees, car exhaust fumes and air pollution increase the greenhouse effect.
Because of the increased gases the polar ice caps are melting and the sea level is
increasing.

There are a lot of relaxing and entertaining activities families can do, both outdoors and
indoors. If they stay at home, they can play cards, board games or watch films. If they want to
enjoy the fresh air, they can go fishing, hiking, cycling or walking. They can go to the zoo or
to the fun fair or aqua park.
In our town, you can go for a walk in the park or a forest, go to a sports field or a café, you
can go to the cinema. Unfortunately, there isn’t a swimming pool, a theatre or a bowling club
but Kecskemét is very close so you can go there if you want other kinds of entertainment.
I think it is very important for the family to spend some time together especially nowadays
when everybody is busy. When a family is together, they can have fun, talk to each other and
play games. They can share their experiences and thoughts.
I think I am lucky because my parents took me to a lot of places such as zoos, and funfairs
when I was young. We also spent a lot of time together at home playing board games or cards.
I always enjoyed these games and we had a lot of fun.

1. On weekdays for me, breakfast is a bowl of cereal or a piece of toast with butter and

2. On weekdays I usually eat lunch after school at home. My mother prepares it, so it is
very delicious. Lunch is the main meal for me, and it consists of some soup and a main
course which is usually some meat with rice or potatoes or some kind of pasta,
followed by a dessert such as ice cream or a cake.
3. I like to have dinner at about 7 because I can’t sleep with a full stomach. Dinner is
very important in my family. We can discuss what has been going on during the day.
It is usually something cold like a sandwich with cold cuts.
4. We eat out only on special occasions as birthdays or name days. Otherwise, we prefer
home-made food. Sometimes we go to a restaurant or we order  some pizza.
5. I think my diet is quite balanced, because I try to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. I try
to avoid sugar and sweets. I pay attention to vitamins because I would like to be
healthy and I don’t want to become overweight.

There are several ways to spend our free time. Some people prefer to take up sports and others
like creative hobbies such as painting, photographing knitting, sewing or pottery. Free time
activities such as reading, going to the theatre, cinema, concerts, exhibitions, watching TV or
doing crosswords are intellectual.
Some hobbies need a lot of money like motor racing, sailing, skiing or travelling. Teenagers
usually do less expensive hobbies such as going jogging, going to the cinema or playing
sports.
Most sports are done outdoors or in gyms. The less active hobbies usually take place indoors
at home, at a community centre, a cinema, theatre, a concert or exhibition hall. Some
activities are done alone such as painting, knitting or sewing while other pastimes are better
done with friends.
There are many reasons why people choose to take up a hobby. Some hobbies require
creativity, some need energy, others are fashionable.
I have tried several hobbies so far including dancing, singing, fishing, playing the piano,
swimming, playing basketball. Right now, I play volleyball twice a week. I would like to try
new hobbies like taking photos or keeping a dog.

I think it is important to eat healthy food, drink healthy drinks, sleep enough, workout
regularly, be outside in the fresh air and live an active life.
It’s important to keep our body healthy because this way we can keep our health for a longer
time and can avoid getting ill. Some illnesses such as diabetes or high blood pressure can be
caused by unhealthy lifestyle or being overweight.
If we are healthy, we don’t need to go to the GP, we don’t need to take medications. If we pay
attention to our health, we can avoid lots of illnesses. It’s important to do exercise. We should
go for a run, walk or go to a fitness club.
I think a balanced diet means that we have a variety of different food. We should eat whole
grain bread, dairy products, fruit, vegetables, white meat such as chicken or fish and drink a
lot of water.
We need to stay away from sugar, fat or pre-packaged food. We should drink healthy drinks. I
prefer water, milk, fruit juices or tea. I try to avoid soft drinks, coffee or alcohol.
I try to keep a healthy life, maintain a balanced diet. I usually eat yoghurt, cereals, fruit for

great handball, football, basketball and gymnastics team.
4. I’m a great fan of the local basketball team and I try to go to every match they play. I
went to a motor race with my dad and I just loved it, it was thrilling. I am a member of

Most Hungarians eat three times a day. They have breakfast at home, which is usually cereal
with milk, a toast, yoghurt or a sandwich, black coffee, tea or orange juice. Some people don’t
have time for breakfast, so they just drink coffee or eat something on the run. Lunch is eaten
at school or at work, usually in the canteen. Lunch consists of some soup, a main course,
which can be pasta, vegetables, meat with potatoes or rice. Some people eat dessert for
example cake, chocolate or some fruit. Unfortunately, many people have lunch in fast food
restaurants. For dinner people eat bread and cold cuts, sausages, a sandwich or some leftover.
We should eat five times a day but small food each time. Breakfast is the most important meal
of the day because people get energy for the day. Dinner shouldn’t be later than 6 or 7
because it is unhealthy to go to sleep on a full stomach. Unfortunately, many people eat
snacks between meals like sweets, crisps or chocolate. Another problem is that traditional
Hungarian food is very fatty and spicy.
Family meals are usually enjoyable, they give a chance to talk to each other, so mealtime is a
very important part of family life. In my family we don’t always have time to sit down and eat
together on weekdays but at weekends we always eat together.
My diet is based on fruit and vegetables, dairy products and meat. Sometimes I eat fast food

1. I like shopping for clothes and shoes, the shopping centre and boutiques are my
favourite places. Sometimes shopping is a nightmare because there is a crowd and I
have to stand in the queue. I hate shopping for food because it’s boring.
2. If we think of the variety and quality, supermarkets are the best. In my opinion, a
supermarket is better than a corner shop because there is a bigger variety, the prices
are lower, and it is self- service.
3. I especially like buying clothes, jewellery or books because I like trying clothes and I
love reading. I don’t mind buying food at the baker’s. I’m not keen on shopping at the
butcher’s.
4. I think the best shops are in the shopping centres in Budapest or Kecskemét. I always
find something to buy in Malom Centre. Before I buy something, I always look
around, consider the price and ask the opinion of my best friends.
5. If I only have to buy the daily bread and milk, I go to the corner shop because it’s

and we can get everything under one roof. Sometimes we go to the marketplace to buy
fresh fruit and vegetables because they are good quality and organic food is healthier.

and spend them on domestic holidays. People who don’t speak foreign languages will choose
Hungarian holiday destinations. There are hills, lakes, forests, great cities for sightseeing and
thermal baths for relaxation.
Some people prefer spending their holidays abroad. They can visit tropical islands to enjoy
the sun, ski paradises to do winter sports and big cities to see famous sights. People can get to
know other cultures and cuisines.
Tourism is very important in any country. We can show our natural treasures, culture and
cuisine to other nations. People who come to our country will spend money here helping the
economy and business. They will tell their friends what a great place Hungary is, and they
also will visit the country.
My favourite holiday destination so far is Greece. I was there many times, I really liked the

There are different types of families: extended, nuclear and single parent families. Large
families are not so fashionable any more. Nowadays, young people want to move out of their
parent’s house as soon as possible. They may stay at home for financial reasons. Young
people don’t always get married. Lots of people get divorced forming single parent families.
It is very difficult for them, taking care of their children alone.
Different generations living together can have both advantages and disadvantages. While the
parents are working grandparents can take care of children or help with the housework. It is
good for the grandparents because they are not alone. On the other hand, this situation can
create conflicts because they have different way of thinking. This is called generation gap.
I am lucky because I have a happy family. My parents do their best to make sure we have
everything we need. Sometimes we have arguments, but we always make up.
In the future I hope I will have a similar, loving and caring family.
