    Activity 1 in Trends and Issues in Social Studies

    A. What is the message of the song “PANANAGUTAN” in relation to the course FSSE 102? Why do
    you think people especially Social Studies students should put into practice such message?

    - The meaning of the song “PANANAGUTAN” means to take responsibility, because when you
    know that you have to do the right thing and have the chance to do it, it is your responsibility as
    well-being to step up not only for your gain but also for the good of other people especially when
    you are a frontliner. And, as future educators especially majoring in Social Studies, we must practice
    this message for us to develop our moral values and to also influence other people to do what is
    right and just.

    B. Below are characteristics of values, rank them according to their likelihood by indicating
    numbers 1-5 in the box opposite each characteristic. Number 1 means most likely and 5 least
    likely. Then explain your output.

    3 These can provide standards of competence and morality.

    2 These can go beyond specific situations or persons.

    5 These are relatively permanent.

    1 These are more central to the core of a person.

    4 Values can differ from culture to culture and even person to person.

    C. What are your terminal and instrumental values in life? Explain your answer.

    - The goal that I want to achieve during my lifetime is to be a wealthy, and successful
    man. Successful in a way of having breakfast to dinner with my family and still doing
    things that I like during my lifetime. To achieve these things, I have to be logical,
    responsible, and independent. Because without these things, you don’t have a compass
    in life.
    D. Explain the adage below.

    - For me. It means that these fingerprints represent what we do, our choices, desires,
    actions. Values are like a compass to us because it guides us in our daily decisions. In
    everything you do, you leave a fingerprint for example is the fingerprint of motivated
    you, or a fingerprint of happiness.
