Presentation

Introduce

Today, I would like to give a presentation on a scientific research paper, namely the article "Analysis of
Research Trends in the Fieldof Mechanical Engineering" by Adrian Knapczyk.

Begin

The article deals with key topics and research trends in mechanical engineering. Based on the analysis of
data from the Scopus database, Applied Mechanics Reviews was selected, which is the only journal to
conduct exclusive scientific activity in the field of Mechanical. In the years of analysis (2002-2017), it was
shown that the main research topics were optimization, material engineering and mechanical issues.

There are four main parts that are the introduction of methods, results, and conclusions.

The first one is introduction.

Mechanical engineering is a complex and very broad field of scientific research using the achievements
of other fields (mechanical engineering, design and many other fields). Well-known mechanical
engineering-related parts and fields[1] development, production, operation and use of mechanical
artifacts

However, it is necessary to point out current research topics and trends. Such knowledge is needed to
plan for future research projects. Monitoring current trends increases the effectiveness of the study. It is
necessary to identify new global research trends that have developed in this industry to identify key
topics of research, discovery and global knowledge networks.

The purpose of this work is to identify trends and key research topics in the field of mechanics.

The next two are the methods of doing this research.

The study was carried out in six phases, using elements of the directory technique:

1.a. Create a set of journals based on the search for indexed items in the Scopus database to search for:
Subject area: Engineering => Mechanical Engineering.

1.b. Separate 10% of the top magazines, doing the subject field: Mechanical.

1.c. Separate journals, in the subject field only Mechanical Engineering.

1.d. Create a set of publications based on the separation of journals. The search was conducted between
2002 and 2017 in English.

1.e. Build and analyze term maps (VOSviewer software) during the period under consideration.

1.f. Quantitative analysis of the set of documents is created in terms of: the number of publications and
the number of citations, large countries.
used to create a map of the terms: year of publication, citation intensity. Keywords with the highest
frequency of appearance are displayed in a larger tick. On the other hand, words with a lower frequency
of occurrence have smaller ticks and fonts.

The next three are the results.

Mechanical field, including 508 journals. The next step is to separate 10% of the scientific journals with
the highest CiteScore index in 2017, including 72 journals. Rankings of the top 10 magazines with
selected parameters have been presented in Table 1

It can be noticed that there are also journals in this group that are also related to the topic of materials
and energy engineering. Journal analysis is carried out on areas of activity. Finally, Applied Mechanics
Reviews magazine was selected for further analysis, which is the only scientific activity conducted
exclusively in the field of Mechanical.

The second stage spike (Figure1c), as in the second stage, has a large fragmentation of key phrases. It
can be seen that the main research topics are: optimization, material engineering, design and
mechanical problems (vibration analysis). In all separate stages, the main problem groups are material
engineering (structural analysis, material properties study,

Table 2 presents the most frequently cited publications throughout the magazine's publication.

As Byun and Schere[9] in their publication, the computational algorithms and functions of the
community multi-level air quality system (CMAQ). This system is used to model the atmosphere of the
air including chemical and physical processes.

The last four is the conclusion.

1. The analysis of journals in the Scopus database has been proven by Applied Mechanics Reviews,
which is the only entity performing exclusive scientific activities in the field of Mechanical.

2. In the years 2002-2017, in the journal Applied Mechanics Reviews, they mainly involved optimization,
selection of mechanical, mechanical and .advanced material engineering issues.

3. The paper shows that the use of the VOSviewer program for bibliometric analysis focuses on
identifying
