You have learned from the previous lessons about inferring and explaining patterns and themes from data and rating the
findings with pertinent literature. In this lesson, you will learn about drawing conclusions from patterns and themes, formulating
recommendations based on conclusions, and listing references.
DRAWING CONCLUSIONS
Prieto et al. (2017) “conclusion is like the final chord in a song.” Thus, the conclusion points out what was factually learned
from the inquiry. A well-written conclusion provides you with important opportunities to demonstrate to the reader your
understanding of the research problem.1.) Presenting the last word on the issues you raised in your paper. 2.) Summarizing your
thoughts and conveying the larger significance of your study.3.) Identifying how a gap in the literature has been addressed.4.)
Demonstrating the importance of your ideas.5.) Introducing possible new or expanded ways of thinking about the research
problem.
The process of drawing conclusions begins as you code your data. Once the data are coded, you will look over the
propositions to write your conclusions. In drawing and verifying conclusions from qualitative data, among the most useful in the
analysis are; a.) Noting patterns and themes, b.) Making contrast and comparisons; c.) clustering; and d.) counting (Prieto et
al.,2017).
Finally, the conclusion is where you write your most important contributions to the paper; it is where you describe the value
of your research. Your conclusion/s shows how well you understand the materials you have worked on. You can avoid thoughts
or new additional ideas, put them in the discussion or appropriate section of the paper. Likewise, avoid using phrases like “in
conclusion,” “in summary,” and “in closing” and ensure that conclusions are meaningful. Hence, the conclusion is the basis of the
research recommendation.

D. Development (Time Frame: 90 minutes)
They must logical by making sure they flow sensibly from the conclusions
They must be relevant which is achieved when they meet the purpose and the scope as stated in the introduction.
They must be concise by using words that are precise and give a reason for the recommendation is given only if necessary.
They must be clear by avoiding ambiguity particularly on how a recommendation is to be implemented.
They must have the aim and effort to solve problems in the study.
The recommendations should ensure a continuous benefit to individual persons and the larger society.

LISTING REFERENCES
General Rules in Listing References
All lines after the first line of every entry of your reference list should be indented one-half inch from the left margin. This
called hanging indention.
From the left margin
Authors ‘names are indented (last name first). Give the last name and initials for all authors of a particular work.
Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last name of the first author of each work.
For multiple articles by the same author or authors listed in the same order, list the entries in chronological order, from the
earliest to the most recent.
Present the journal title in full.
Capitalize all major words in journal titles.
Maintain the punctuations and capitalization that are used by the journal in its title.
Do not capitalize the second word in a hyphened compound word
Italicize the titles of longer works such as books and journals. Capitalization practice should be consistent.
The use reference list in scholarly disciplines will allow you to credit the works of others.
Directly influenced the present work and document any facts that are not common knowledge. It also gives interested
readers the information necessary to identify and retrieve.
In writing a research paper, you may have to make conclusions later based on the analysis and interpretation of data
gathered. The following activities will help you in drawing a conclusion soon in your research. Have fun!

1. How did you find the activity?
2. Were you able to familiarize yourself regarding the format of a research paper using the APA style? If not, how would
you like to do it?
3.How does a conclusion help you come up with effective research?
Now that you have learned how to draw conclusions, it's time for you to get ready for APA Format.

IV. LEARNING PHASES AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Now that you have learned the different parts of the APA research format, it's time for you to write a draft of your research.
Meanwhile, enjoy your new tasks on listing references.
Research needs resources to support your ideas and claims and to expound your topic further. As a researcher,
you need to respect intellectual property rights. Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and
artistic works, and symbols, names, and images used in commerce. Thus, these sources cited in your research should be
acknowledged and properly cited in giving respect to the owner. This lesson teaches you how to cite sources properly. Click
