Highlights of meeting with Steel Ministry and SAIL Management

1. SEFI office bearers visited Office of the Steel Minister, Minister of State,
Secretary (Steel) and Joint Secretary (Steel).
2. SEFI has submitted our representations on the following issues to the Steel
Ministry, Minister of State, Secretary (Steel) and Joint Secretary (Steel) on
a. Pay revision of MECON
b. Promotion in RINL
c. 11 months perks arrears of 2nd PRC
d. 39 months’ pay revision arrears of 3rd PRC
e. Merger of Steel PSUs instead of disinvestment of Steel PSUs
3. SEFI met the SAIL management and had discussions on the following issues:
a. JO 2008 & 2010 issue was discussed in detail and SEFI demanded for an
early resolution. Management has also assured for early resolution.
b. Monthly/quarterly contribution towards pension was demanded.
Management has agreed to start the contributions on quarterly basis.
c. SEFI insisted for considering larger percentages in the upcoming
promotions specially in the E3 to E4 grades.
d. SEFI demanded for minimum 9% contribution towards pension
irrespective of the company's financial performance.
e. SEFI discussed on the various issues related to PRP payments.
f. Various other issues like special gift, improving township facilities,
medical, HRA etc were also discussed.
g. SEFI requested for SAIL-SEFI meeting and SEFI council meeting within a
month and management has assured for the same.
h. SEFI discussed with the management regarding the present scenario of
Steel Industry. Management has expressed their concerns towards
safety and cost control measures at all levels.
