Chairperson’s Report

Colleagues, friends, ladies, and gentlemen, pleasant greetings!

Welcome to our 21st General Assembly. As MONHS-MPC chairman, allow
me to present to you our annual accomplishments and several updates on
challenges and resolutions regarding our cooperative.

Membership
Let me start with membership. The MONHS-MPC currently has 139
members with total assets of Php 5,713,764.63 and with total share capital
of 3,352,314.15. Four (4) members who retired from service already
withdrew their share capital while three (3) new members were welcomed
out of the 29 teachers who participated in the Free Membership Seminar
held last February 2018. The cooperative continues to welcome more
interested teachers who like to avail or services and enjoy benefits.

Seminar
Next. In our continuing efforts to improve the operations and management
of our cooperative. Two (2) BODs and the operations manager were sent to
Baguio to attend a training on strategic planning. On the common issue and
problem on delinquency, it was suggested for us to venture on
other/additional income-generating project such as a water refilling station.
This is so, since lending leaves us at the mercy of some who are not good
payors.

Moreover, the Cooperative Development Authority of Region 10 required the

coop to submit a report on how the officers are kept well-adept, trained, and
updated about cooperative law and current events. The purpose is to ensure
the protection of the interests of the coop and its members. In this regard,
the BODs and officers plan to attend a seminar in Cebu this May 2019.
Accomplishments
For the past year, 2018, the BOD has issued the following resolutions:
1. BOD Resolution No. _____ (state purpose)
2. Enumerate all Board reso. And purpose

Issues and concerns:

Moving on, let us discuss some issues and concerns.

The coop refutes circulating rumors about increasing loses that lead to
panic among members. We assure you that those are untrue. As a matter of
fact, our Php 600,000 loses from the other year have been substantially
reduced due to the collective and enduring efforts of our BOD and
operations manager. We are able to save/raise/collect around Php 578,000.
I encourage you! Let us help one another by being responsible members.
Have a sense of ownership and settle existing obligations, if any.

Moreover, based on the financial status and independent audit report for
calendar year 2018, we have undivided net surplus of Php328,000. Much
bigger than 2017’s net surplus of Php 186,823.84. The BOD, however,
resolved that only 50% of the Php328,000 will be divided among members.
The other half will be used to cover and secure existing and prevent any
future deficits. The aim for 2019 is to no longer, or at least minimize our
coop’s deficits.

At this point, I would like to remind members that the issue on delinquency
continues to be a challenge for the coop. Old and new members seem to
take lightly their obligations to the coop. The BOD did its best but to no
avail. Hence, the coop hired a lawyer, Atty. Portacion to help us settle such
issue. Delinquent members will be expected to receive demand letters soon.
A delinquent member’s failure to settle his obligation will result in the
necessary legal action. (Ayaw na e.state ug detail unsay inyong nahisgutan
with the lawyer. Ang importante they know nga you are taking legal
actions).
