Abstraction and Generalization

The Earth has all the things needed by living things in order to
live. It gives air for people and animals to breathe. It gives nutrients to
plants so they will grow.
The surface of the earth is covered with soil. The soil provides
nutrients for plants to produce food and more plants. All plants which
grow on soil provide people with food, clothing, medicine and
shelter.

Animals also get food, medicine, and shelter from the earth.
Plants serve as their food and medicine. Caves, rocks, and soil serve
as their shelter.
People get construction materials from the earth. Sand, gravel,
cement, and metals come from the earth. People also get precious
stones and metals from the earth.
People also get many things from land and water resources. These
resources provide help for people to earn a living.
