State a brief history or discovery that brought about the invention or the discovery of the things

stated below. State their contributions to our scientific development.

Determine and list down possible alternatives to its growth and development while promoting
sustainable living.

a. Telescope

- In the early 17th century, craftsmen and scientists introduced a new tool for studying the
heavens. The telescope, one of the central instruments of the Scientific Revolution, soon
became the astronomer's most essential tool. The telescope first appeared in the
Netherlands. In October 1608, the national government in The Hague discussed a
patent application for a device that aided "seeing faraway things as though nearby." It
consisted of a convex and concave lens in a tube. The combination magnified objects
three or four times.

- In astronomy, the telescope is without a doubt the most significant investigation tool that
gave us new perception on how we see the universe in such a way that exploration of
the celestial bodies was made possible without physically being in outer space.
Telescopes have a big contribution to our development. It unlocked new discoveries
such as new planets and asteroids and helped scientists understand the light emitted by
the sun and other stars.

- Telescopes may be incorporated with space drone technology so that space

explorations can go farther.

b. Processed Food

- Food processing dates back to prehistoric ages, with crude processing methods that
included slaughtering, fermenting, sun drying, preserving with salt, and various means of
cooking (such as roasting, smoking, steaming, and oven baking). Salt-preservation was
especially common for foods that constituted the diets of warriors and sailors, up until
the introduction of canning methods. Evidence for the existence of these methods exists
in the writings of the ancient Greek, Chaldean, Egyptian, and Roman civilizations, as
well as archaeological evidence from Europe, North and South America, and Asia.

- Processed foods help in maintaining the progress in our nation in which it is being
utilized to improve human nutrition because it provides individuals with more choices
and larger variety based on their likings. Also, to increase global food security by
providing convenience to the people, since these are mostly ready-to-eat foods, it is very
essential when we are facing natural disasters where most markets, stores and
restaurants are closed. It also ensures that the consumers of these are safe and away
from harmful bacterias.
- Processed foods may be combined (murag following ras pattern sa number 1 ay. Hihi)
with much healthier options of ingredients where elders are also engaged and
persuaded to buy and consume these in times of unexpected disasters or calamities –
since elders are more conscious of what they eat in order for them to stay healthy.
- There is high potential in food processing, especially in canned or picked foods, when
involves not only the preservation of flavor and the quality of food but also when the full
nutritional values of the food being processed are preserved as if it were freshly picked
or taken from source. In that way, convenience of not traversing back and fourth
between home and stores to buy fresh produce does not compromise nutrition. This
means, a person can stack up on food, save money in gas by not frequenting out to buy
food and still get all the goodness and nutrition of fresh produce.

c. Automobile

- The idea certainly occurred long before it was first recorded in the Iliad, in which Homer
(in Alexander Pope’s translation) states that Vulcan in a single day made 20 tricycles,
which Leonardo da Vinci considered the idea of a self-propelled vehicle in the 15th
century. In 1760 a Swiss clergyman, J.H. Genevois suggested mounting small windmills
on a cart like vehicle, their power to be used to wind springs that would move the road
wheel. Genevois’s idea probably derived from a windmill cart of about 1714.

- Automobiles or which we call it preferably as “car” lets people have more personal
freedom and access to jobs and services. It also results in better modes of transportation
since these are automated and because of more discoveries and development, it results
in the rise of more employment to people in this industry.

- Alternative source of energy to power automobiles should be explored such as the water
powered car invented in 1988 by a certain Stanley Meyer. Legislations to encourage
inventions as well as the protection of the inventor mush be put in place.

d. Internet

- The Internet started in the 1960s as a way for government researchers to share
information. Computers in the '60s were large and immobile and in order to make use of
information stored in any one computer, one had to either travel to the site of the
computer or have magnetic computer tapes sent through the conventional postal
system. January 1, 1983 is considered the official birthday of the Internet. Prior to this,
the various computer networks did not have a standard way to communicate with each
other. A new communications protocol was established called Internetwork Protocol (IP).
This allowed different kinds of computers on different networks to "talk" to each other.

- The Internet helps us develop in such ways that Internet use can improve learners'
academic performance, promote research skills and critical thinking, encourage
independent or collaborative learning, enhance motivation, strengthen self-confidence
and improve teaching methods – especially that we are very engaged with the internet.
As we are experiencing a pandemic, the internet gives a very great contribution in such
that we are able to communicate with our families abroad and even because of our
mode of learning which is online class.
