EMPTY FREEZER

INT.CLASSROOM – MORNING

A short young brunette girl with colourful streaks in her

hair, MAYAH, is sat at a table in her classroom. She is alone
with headphones in. We see half a figure of her friend, walk
behind her and grab her shoulders. She jumps and takes her
headphones out. This is when the music is cut off and we can
hear the hustle and bustle of the classroom around her. The
friend, ISLA, a tall red-haired girl, sits down next to her.

MAYAH

What do you want bug?

ISLA

I still don’t get that nickname. How do you get bug from Isla?

MAYAH

It doesn’t come from your name donkey. It’s because of that

time with the ladybug.

ISLA

Oh, bite me, Mayah.

MAYAH

(Softly whispered)

Gladly.

ISLA

Sorry? What’d you say?

MAYAH

Oh nothing.

Mayah turns her attention to the table trying to avoid eye

contact with Isla, she starts to blush and hides her head in
her hands. Isla suddenly exclaims which shocks Mayah into
lifting her head.

ISLA

(Shocked and slightly panicked)

There’s been another one…

MAYAH

Wait what?

She sharply lifts her head and turns to Isla’s phone.

Plastered on the screen was a social media post of a young
girl who had gone missing. Mayah begins to look uncomfortable,
almost scared.

MAYAH

(solemnly)

How Many's that now?

ISLA

Seven…

They look at each other and exchange a worried look. Mayah

shakes it off and goes back to her phone.

MAYAH

(nonchalantly)

She probably just ran away like the rest of them, I mean I
would do anything to get out of this town as well.

ISLA

I suppose… but at least let me walk you home today, just for
my piece of mind.

MAYAH

Don’t be stupid bug. You live on the opposite side of the

village; I’ve been walking home on my own since year 6. I’ll
be fine.

ISLA

(Beginning to seem even more worried)

Please May…

Mayah cuts Isla off angrily. She wants to change the

conversation she seems more and more scared.
MAYAH

(angrily)

Isla! Stop it now! You’re just going to scare everyone for no

reason!

She looks towards the clock they then start to stand up.

ISLA

(Seemingly sad)

I’m going to my seat I’ll talk to you later.

Mayah walks off screen and Isla watches her; she sighs loudly
and walks out of shot.

EXT.SMOKING AREA – EARLY AFTERNOON

Mayah walks over to Isla who is sat at the smoking area. She
sits beside her. They share a sorry look and Mayah rests her
head on Islas shoulder.

MAYAH

I’m sorry about earlier I’m just stressed. It’s scary.

ISLA

I know I just worry about you May. I just want you to be safe.
Because I love you.

MAYAH

I love you to bug.

ISLA

No may, like, I'm in love with you.

MAYAH

Wait what?

They stare at each other, Isla starts to blush as she looks at

the floor, a small smile creeps onto Mayah’s face.
MAYAH

I… I think I love you too…

Isla looks up at her and smiles a wide smile. Mayah starts

talking quickly and excitedly.

MAYAH

You should definitely come over for dinner tomorrow. My mum

makes the best meat casserole.

EXT.FRONT OF COLLEGE – EARLY EVENING

We see a text conversation between Mayah and Isla. Isla is

asking Mayah where she is and Mayah had told her she left
early, she told her to be safe. She sends her a text telling
her she will be safe, it says “of course I will xx”. She puts
her phone in her pocket and we see her start to walk away from
the college. The scene very briefly cuts to black and eerie
ambient music starts.

EXT.FIELD – LATE EVENING

We see a shot of a large empty field to set the scene and show
how the time had changed. The scene goes black again.

EXT.WOODS – LATE EVENING

The music continues and we see Mayah walking through the woods
she has her headphones in and is listening to music. She
seemingly starts to feel something around her and so she
starts to slow down. She looks around her and slowly takes one
of her headphones out. As she brings the headphone further
from her ear the music cuts out making it seem as though the
music in the background was what she was listening to. She
continues to look around her. She hears a twig snap and jolts
her head in the direction. The leaves rustle one more time and
she starts to run out of the forest. She continues to look
around her as she runs faster, she trips at one point but
manages to stay on her feet.
INT.HALLWAY – LATE EVENING

The front door swings open and Mayah throws herself inside,
slamming the door behind her. She falls against the door and
doubles over trying to catch her breath. Eventually she
catches her breath and starts to walk to the kitchen.

INT.KITCHEN – LATE EVENING

She walks into the kitchen, and she plops her bag on the
island. She begins to talk to her MUM about her day.

MAYAH

Hey mum, you won’t even believe the day I’ve had.

MUM

Oh sweetie, you can tell me all about it while I’m cooking,

but first can you grab me some meat from the freezer?

MAYAH

Yeah sure, is it just me and you eating tonight?

MUM

Not tonight love, all three of us are having dinner.

MAYAH

Ok.

Mayah walks out of the kitchen and towards the garage.

INT.GARAGE – LATE EVENING

Mayah walks towards the freezer and she begins rummaging

through trying to find the meat. She realises there’s none in
there and sighs loudly.

MAYAH

Shit.

(yelling)
MUM WE’RE OUT!

She turns around to reveal the girl from the missing poster
tied up and gagged on her floor, crying and in tattered
clothes.

MAYAH

I was hoping you’d be slightly bigger by this point.

The girl begins to loudly cry. As Mayah picks up the carving

knife that was by the side of the freezer and slowly walks
toward her.

MAYAH

It’s too late though. My girlfriend’s coming over tomorrow and

I promised her a meat casserole. Don’t worry, I’ll make it
quick.

Mayah lunges towards the girl and as the screen goes black, we
hear a loud blood curdling scream.

Missing Girl
Visual Description
She is a tall blonde girl; she is seen wearing
leggings and a brown jacket.

Occupation/Hobbies/Family
We don’t know much regarding her occupation, hobbies,
or family. We know that she is the same age as the
other girls as she is posted on social medias. We can
also know that she attended the same college as Mayah
as that’s where all the girls that have gone missing
have gone to school.

Played by: Abbie Atherton

Why are they qualified for the role?

There isn’t much that this role required as there is
no speaking and due to this didn’t bother with an
audition. However visually Abbie was a great match
for my vision.
