MANAGING PROJECT

▪ Object Styles: Is used to change the graphics like line pattern, color, line weight, materials
for model and annotation objects. These settings are applied to the entire project and it is
not view specific.
- Manage tab >> Settings panel >> Object Styles

▪ Transfer project standards: Copies the selected project settings from another open project
to the current project.
- Open the project from where the settings need to be copied
- Go the project where the settings need to be copied
- Manage tab >> Setting panel >> Select Transfer Project Standards
- Select the project name in copy from rollout
- Click on check none >> Select the settings individually >> OK

▪ Creating Parameters:
- There are three types of parameters that can be added to any project:
1) Project parameters
2) Shared parameters
3) Global parameters

▪ Project parameters: These parameters are project specific and cannot be used in multiple
projects or tag families. -
- Manage tab >> Settings panel >> Project parameters >>Click on Add
- Name the parameter E.g.: Phase No. >> Discipline: common >> Type of parameter: Text >>
Group parameter under : Phasing >> Select 0 Instance parameter >> Select categories where
this parameter is to be added > E.g. Duct, Duct Fitting etc. >> OK

▪ Shared Parameters: These parameters are saved to be used in multiple projects and tag
families.
- Manage tab >> Settings panel >> Shared parameters
- Click on create and save the path for the shared parameter >> Click on new group >> Name
the group >> Click on new parameter >> Name it >> Specify discipline >> Type of parameter
as needed >> OK.
- To add this shared parameter in the project >> Click on Project Parameter >> Add > select
saved shared parameter >> select the parameter created >> OK >>
- Select the group parameter under >> Type or Instance >> select the categories to add > OK.
- To create a tag family using the shared parameter >> Start a New Tag Family with the
template needed>> Click on label >> Click at the intersection of ref planes >> click on new
parameter > select the shared parameter created >> click on add parameter >> Save the
family and load into the project.

▪ Global Parameters: These parameters can be added in the project to define values for the
elements and can be changed globally to the entire project.
- Manage tab >> Settings panel >> Global parameters - E.g.: To keep the placement of the
sprinkler common at all levels we can add a global parameter for the same. -
- Add a dimension from the grids to the sprinkler in level 1
- Select the dimension >> Click on create parameter in the ribbon >> Name the parameter
(E.g. : Sprinkler Placement ) > OK
- Now go the level 2 >> add another dimension similar to level 1 >> Select it >> Select the
parameter created - (Sprinkler Placement) in the label dropdown >> It changes to the value
mentioned earlier.
- (To edit the values of any global parameter we can click on global parameters and edit the
values or select the dimension and click on this icon and change the values which will
globally change in entire project.)

▪ Purge Unused: -Removes the unused families and types in the project which is not used in
the project
- Manage tab >> Settings panel >> Purge unused >> Click on Check None >> check the
required types >> Click on ok

▪ Additional Settings: Here we can change the settings like line styles, line patterns, line
weights, fill patterns, etc. for the project.
- Manage tab > Settings panel > Additional Settings

1) Fill patterns: - Here we can add new fill pattern or edit existing one.

2) Line styles: - Here we can add new line styles or edit the existing ones which can be used to
create details.

3) Line weights: - Here we can edit the values for the line weights for different scales.

4) Halftone/Underlay: - Here we can change the fading value for the halftone and appearance
for the underlay objects.

5) Callout/Elevation/Section Tags: - Here we can change the callout, elevation, and section
tags created in the project.

6) Arrowheads: - Here we can change the properties like size of the arrowheads used in
dimensions and leaders.

7) Temporary dimensions: - Here we can change the settings for the temporary dimensions.
