1. Does money bring people happiness? Why/Why not?


2. Why do people often believe that money brings happiness?
3. Are multicultural societies a positive or negative thing? Give examples to support your ideas.
4. Is Turkish culture changing due to foreign influences (eg. Hollywood movies)? Is this a good
or bad thing?

B. You are going to discuss the topic of ‘university students & psyhological problems. You have 5
mins. To prepare. Use the questions below to guide you. However, you do not have to answer all of

1. What are the biggest changes in a student’s life when he/she starts university?
2. What kind of psychological problems can these changes create?
3. What other causes of stress do students have?
4. What can students do to avoid these problems?
5. If a student has psychological problems, what is the best way to try and solve them?

1. Do you think it’s necessary for people to plan their time? When do you do this?
2. What’s the attitude of Turkish people to time? Is time flexible?

5. What difficulties might people from different cultures have in their relationship?

exploration? Or is it better to spend money on solving the problems that exist on Earth?

E. You are going to discuss the topic of communication. You have 5 mins. To prepare. Use the

1. What are the biggest communication problems you can have when you travel to a foreign
country?
2. What strategies can help you to avoid these problems?
3. What is the role of non-verbal communication? Why are they important?
4. Can you give any specific examples ? What problems can these cause?
5. How can people avoid breakdowns in communication when in a foreign country?

F. You are going to discuss the topic of mental well being/happiness. You have 5 mins. To prepare.

What are some ways people can ensure that they are mentally healthy and happy?
Talk about: Flow Theory/ social wellness (having relationships)/ Maslow’s Theory of self-
actualisation/ emotional wellness (relationship with yourself).

What do you think about using medicines (eg. Prozac) to overcome depression?

G. You are going to discuss the topic of art therapy. You have 5 mins. To prepare. Use the
questions below to guide you. However, you do not have to answer all of these questions.

It is said, “Art has the potential to heal, transform and empower individuals and communities”.
What are the benefits of creating art?

● Mentally (e.g. problem solving, encouraging critical thinking …)


● Psychologically and emotionally (e.g. coping with stress, anxiety, and depression)
● Physically (e.g. for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, chronic health conditions,
cancer)
Give an example of a piece of art that has impressed you a lot and has made a positive
change in your life. Please explain the reasons for that change.
Albert Einstein said, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” Do you agree with this? What are
your artistic abilities (e.g. music, painting, sculpting, drawing, photography, knitting,
woodworking, gardening, and do-it-yourself home repair, …).
