Assessment 5.
1. Working in the high-rise towers and buildings, in this situation the fall
protection is strictly implemented for the safety of the workers because
working at height without safety gears or equipment may lead to great danger
and cause death. Another reason in high-rise constructions the wind speed of
the atmosphere is increasing and this may cause the worker to fall while doing
his job. So, in this projects or scenarios fall protection is strictly implemented
under the provision of OSHA the Fall Arrest OSHA 1926.502 (d) where fall
arrest system is required whenever a worker is exposed to a fall hazard.
2. I can climb a ladder without fall protection about 4 meters from the ground.
Higher than that I need protection. But according to 29 CFR 1926-1053 (a)
(19) states that fall protection must be provided whenever the length of climb
on a fixed ladder equals or exceeds 24 feet.
3. Fall protection is used to protect a person in the event they do fall, to stop
them without causing severe injury, while fall prevention is used to prevent
the person from falling.
4. OSHA requires workers to wear a full body harness when they are wearing a
suspended scaffold more than 10 feet above the working surface, or when they
are working in bucket truck or aerial lift.
Assessment 6.
1. Four main types of injuries that may occur due to negligence in handling
electrical works in the workplace
 Electrocution (fatal) – this occur when you have a direct contact with exposed
energized conductors or circuit parts, where it can interfere with the normal
electrical signals between the brain and our muscles and may cause your heart
to stop beating.
 Electric Shock – it happens when the electricity jumps from an exposed
energized conductor or circuit part through a gas such as air to a person who
is grounded.
 Thermal burns – contact burns from being shocked can burn internal tissues
while leaving only a very small injuries on the outside of the skin.
 Fall – muscle contractions, or a startle reaction, can cause a person to fall
from a ladder, scaffold or aerial bucket. The fall can cause serious injuries.
2. These injuries may take place in welding facilities, electrical facilities, power
source facilities and houses where they don’t follow safety standards while
working with or near the electricity
Assessment 7
1. In a Computer Lab where the chair is limited and mostly damage and the
room are not clean and the PC’s filled with the dust but they still use it. The
proper control is to provide a comfortable chair to the users, clean the room
and provide another PC’s so that malfunction will be eliminated and daily
routine of cleaning and maintaining the 5’S in the workplace.
It can be eliminated by redesigning the workstations, provide adjustable tables and
chairs, provide carts for transporting material, use tool that fit the hand, change
where materials are stored to minimize reaching develop work policies and
procedure and lastly provide personal protective equipment. With this solution
ergonomic hazard will be eliminated.
