in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess, Durga. As per mythology, the festival marks the
victory of goddess Durga in her battle against the shape-shifting asura, Mahishasura. Thus, the festival epitomises the victory of
good over evil, though it is also in part a harvest festival celebrating the goddess as the motherly power behind all of life and
creation.

holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. This religious Eid is the
first and only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of
the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of
the month of Shawwal. The date for the start of any lunar Hijri month varies based on when the new moon is sighted by local
religious authorities, so the exact day of celebration varies by locality.

<FONT FACE="HALVETICA" SIZE="4" COLOR="PURPLE">Holi is a popular ancient Hindu festival, originating from the Indian
subcontinent. It is celebrated predominantly in India and Nepal, but has also spread to other areas of Asia and parts of the Western
world through the diaspora from the Indian subcontinent. Holi is popularly known as the Indian "festival of spring", the "festival of
colours", or the "festival of love". The festival signifies the arrival of spring, the end of winter, the blossoming of love, and for many
a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. The festival also celebrates the
beginning of a good spring harvest season.
