General Objective:
- After 24 hours of exposure to OB-GYNE Department, I will be able to : Make use of the
maximum Related Learning Experience to develop the competence, to acquire, integrate, and
demonstrate Knowledge, skills, and Attitude towards the care of at risk/ high risk/ sick client and
families during child bearing and child rearing Years towards health promotion, disease
prevention, restoration and maintenance and rehabilitation to provide safe appropriate and
holistic nursing care utilizing the Nursing Process.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of 24 hours of Related Learning Experience (RLE), I will be able to:

1. Establish rapport with duty mates and my clinical instructor.

2. Provide nursing care for maternal clients by utilizing the process and procedures.
3. Identify and list the discomforts of pregnancy during maternal period.
4. Understand about routine standard operating procedures, policies, and the physical setup
of the OB-GYNE department.
5. Utilize critical thinking skills to manage nursing care for culturally diverse clients who are
experiencing specific pregnancy-related complications.
6. Recognizes the importance of the nurse's role in the admission and discharge of patients.
7. Identify factors that increase the likelihood of developing postpartum complications;
recognize signs and symptoms that indicate maternal or infant complications; and
describe medical management for these problems.

8. List the fetal and maternal complications that can occur as a result of abnormal labor.

9. Describe the pain management techniques used during labor.

10. Provide proper clinical education and counseling to women in labor and their families
during the labor process.

11. Provide the best possible care and follow-up for pregnant women and their newborns;
make use of existing support systems, including consultation, in the hospital and
community.
12. Perform all necessary documentation for a woman who has a term newborn pregnancy
and presents to Labor and Delivery in labor, from the time of admission through the time
of birth and discharge.

13. Demonstrate skills on Nipple Stimulated Contraction Stress Test and Oxytocin Challenge
Test (OCT) or Contraction Stress Test (CST)
