SERVICE OF AGREEMENT WITH THE
ORGANISATION FOR ONE OR OTHER
REASON.

5. RETRENCHMENT
1. RESIGNATION
- VOLUNTARY
- COMPULSORY
2. DISCHARGE
- ON ACCOUNT OF VIOLATION OF CO.’S
RULES OR FOR INADEQUATE PERFOR-
MANCE.
CAUSES- A. FREQUENT CAUSES
- INEFFICIENCY, DISHONESTY, DRUNK-
ENNESS, CARELESSNESS, VIOLATION.
B. INFREQUENT CAUSES
- PERSONAL CONDUCT, ACCIDENTS,
UNCLEANLINESS, PHYSICAL UNFITNESS
C. OTHER CAUSES
- CARELESSNESS, LAZINESS, ADVERSE
ATTITUDE ETC.
3. DISMISSAL- TERMINATION OF
SERVICES OF AN EMPLOYEE BY WAY
OF PUNISHMENT FOR SOME
MISCONDUCT OR FOR UNAUTHORISED
AND PROLONGED ABSENCE FROM
DUTY.
SUSPENSION
- SERIOUS PUNISHMENT.
LAYOFF- IT MEANS THE FAILURE,
REFUSAL OR INABILITY OF AN EMPL-
OYER ON ACCOUNT OF SHORTAGE
OF COAL, POWER OR RAW MATERIAL
OR ACCUMULATION OF STOCKS OR
BREAKDOWN OF MACHINERY OR
NATURAL CALAMITY OR FOR ANY
OTHER CONNECTED REASON TO
GIVE EMPLOYMENT TO A WORKMAN
WHOSE NAME IS BORNE ON THE
MUSTER ROLLS OF HIS INDUSTRIAL
ESTABLISHMENT AND WHO HAS NOT
BEEN RETRENCHED.
RETRENCHMENT- IT MEANS THE
TERMINATION BY THE EMPLOYER
OF THE SERVICE OF A WORKMAN
FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER,
OTHERWISE THAN A PUNISHMENT
INFLICTED BY WAY OF DISCIPLINARY
ACTION BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE-
a. VOLUNTARY RETIREMENT;
b. TERMINATION OF THE SERVICE OF
A WORKMAN ON THE GROUND OF
CONTINUED ILL HEALTH.
C. TERMINATION OF SERVICE OF
WORKMAN AS A RESULT OF NON
REMOVAL OF CONTRACT OF
EMPLOYMENT B/W EMPLOYER &
WORKMAN CONCERNED ON ITS
EXPIRY.
