WELCOME FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR
It is with great pleasure to introduce Universiti Teknologi Brunei’s prospectus for the year
2022.
Today, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is ranked at the 344th place in the Quacquarelli
Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2022 (QSWUR), and ranked at 126 in the QS
Asia University Rankings. It has also ranked UTB at 40th place for Young Global University
under the 50 years of age. UTB has also marked another milestone after being awarded
the 5-Plus Star rating for excellence by QS. This achievement has placed UTB amongst
the fifteen universities in the world and the only university in Southeast Asia to receive
the prestigious QS 5-Plus Star Award.
Additionally, UTB will also be offering a new postgraduate programme, MSc in Cyber
Security (Full Time and Part Time), under the School of Computing and Informatics.

Brunei Darussalam’s economy has been dominated by the oil and gas
industry for the past 80 years. Hydrocarbon resources account for over
90% of its export and more than 50% of its Gross Domestic Product.
Today, Brunei is the fourth largest oil producer in South East Asia and the
ninth largest exporter of liquefied natural gas in the world.
