Introduction

This assignment is about comparing two computer systems from, hardware – software and
their strengths and weakness.

The benefits and implication of installing an SSD over an HDD

Benefits
1. SSD is much faster in terms of download and service speed.
2. They use up less power than HDD do
3. They have more longevity than HDD
4. Faster boot up speed for computer
5. Durability is better than HDD, more endurance / reliability.
6. More sizes and facts than HDD

 Implications.
1. A lot more expensive than HDD
2. Storage space is wayyy more limited than HDD
3. Data extraction can be a struggle due to the system structure
4. Lifespan is shorter than HDD
5. Availability is more difficult than HDD because everyone wants them
6. Has no capability with lesser devices.

The benefits and implications of North Wiltshire Environmental installing and

maintaining hardware themselves

  Benefits
Installing and maintaining hardware and doing it yourself will save time and
money. Having the correct hardware that suits north Wiltshire environmental
means they can customize, what is going on to benefit the company and staff
better. Having great staff working at IT Departments is good because it wills ave
money and also fix more problems.

 Implications: There are disadvantages of installing and maintaining hardware for

your business although choosing your own hardware would be a huge cost of
efftective, if you get it wrong chose something that will end up not working as
effective because you want it to be more suitable hardware. Which means you
would need to spend more money on installing the correct hardware, suitable.

Review of how installing and maintaining hardware for one technology system could
impact an individual or an organization

Can be better experience for a group of people if they’re all working together onto 1 technology
system, because your working on it with other people so if someone knows something you
don’t, then you can easily resolve.

The strengths and weaknesses of system 1

Dell OptiPlex 3020

 Strengths: It’s cost efficient and is still a viable solution for home and office use because
of how many you can buy and its reliabaility.
 Weaknesses: The system is very old, making it not as efficient as an upgrade would
definitely be more efficient.

Intel Core i5-4590

 Strengths: The strengths is that it has a high-speed performance rate giving boosts on
working speed.
 Weaknesses: Its weakness is that its an average boost overclock speed for gaming and
running games, and single-thread tasks and is not very competitively priced, clock
speed.

4gb drr3 ram

 Strengths: High ram speed for its time

 Weaknesses: is slow and old and ddr 4 16gb minimum is better

500gb 5400rpm

 Strengths: good storage for its time

 Weaknesses: is slow and old 1tb ssd is way better and faster

DVD burner drive

 Strengths: portable can move whenever and wherever

 Weaknesses: can be slow and streaming is better

 Strengths: it turns on and works

 Weaknesses: slow and old due for an upgrade

 Strengths: high speed for its time

 Weakness: slow and old needs an upgraded cpu

 Strengths: usable and works decent ram

 Weaknesses: trash storage unit and needs an upgrade

250gb Seagate barracuda 7200rpm

 Strengths: good storage and rpm

 Weaknesses: old/outdated so its also slow

CD/DVD rom drive

 Strengths: portable can move whenever and wherever

 Weaknesses: can be slow

17” TFT LCD monitor 1280x1024

 Strengths: resolution is alright
