INTRODUCTION
• Anand Gopal Mahindra (born 1 May 1955) is an Indian
billionaire businessman, and the chairman of Mahindra
Group, a Mumbai-based business conglomerate.
• The group operates in aerospace, agribusiness,
aftermarket, automotive, components, construction
equipment, defence, energy, farm equipment, finance and
insurance, industrial equipment, information technology,
leisure and hospitality, logistics, real estate and retail.
• As of January 2020, his net worth is estimated to be $1.6
billion. He is an alumnus of Harvard University and Harvard
Business School.
ACHIEVEMENTS
• He is included among the ‘World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’ by Fortune
Magazine.
• Anand was noted as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Forbes (India) for 2013.
Anand was given the third-highest civilian award in India, the Padma
Bhushan Award in January 2020.
• Anand is also the Co-Chairperson of the World Economic Forum. For his
outstanding contributions to the business field, he also received the Rajiv
Gandhi Award.
• He received the Leadership Award from the American India Foundation.
Anand was also awarded the person of the year award from Auto Monitor.
• In April 2014, Anand became a member of the board of U.S.–
India Business Council (USIBC). He helps promote the policy
advocacy priorities of USIBC and advises members and senior
USIBC staff.
• In 2011, Anand was invited to join the International Advisory
OTHER Council of Singapore's Economic Development Board.
• He is the Chairman of the India Advisory Council at the Lincoln
POSITIONS Center, New York. In January 2015, he was appointed on a
four-year team as a Trustee of the Natural History Museum of
London.
• An avid advocate of using 'design for human happiness', Anand
is the chairman, Governing Council National Institute of Design
and President, India Design Council.

• Under the “Mahindra” brand name, the company
produces SUVs, Multi utility vehicles, pickups, lightweight
commercial vehicles, heavyweight commercial vehicles, two
wheeled motorcycles and tractors. Mahindra maintains business
relations with foreign companies like Renault SA, France.
• M&M has a global presence and its products are exported to

Anand Mahindra possesses in both consideration and initiating structure.

He is a great leader in the combination of both of the behavior brining a very


high structure and consideration. In initiating structure, he had reach to a certain
degree to which he is task-oriented and more to a procedural management style.

This kind of leader assigns specific tasks, specifies procedures to be followed,


schedules work, and clarifies expectations for team members for Mahindra
Company.

This has also proven to increase job performance, group performance, and
organization performance, as well as satisfaction not only to employees but to
stakeholders and Mr. Anand himself.

ENTREPRENUERSHIP
Anand is an advocate of the study of humanities as he believes it can
help address various problems in the world that arise due to
interdependency. He donated $10 million to support the Harvard
Humanities Center. In recognition of this donation, the center was
renamed to Mahindra Humanities Center at Harvard.

He is the founder of project Nanhi Kali which aims to provide primary


education to underprivileged girls in India. As of September 2017, the
project has supported 130,000 underprivileged girls.

Anand is also the chairman-for-life and one of the board of directors


of Naandi Foundation, an Indian charitable trust that works towards
the socio-economic development of India.
