NOTICE OF REMEDIAL WARNING

Via Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested,

First Class Mail, and Personal Delivery

Date: June 2, 2022

To: Eric Jensen

At its meeting held on June 2, 2022, the Board of Education determined that your conduct as a
tenured teacher in Hinsdale Township High School District No. 86 is deficient and
unprofessional as set forth below. The Board of Education has determined that your conduct is
sufficient reason and cause for your dismissal from this District if you do not correct and
remediate it immediately and, consequently, took official action resolving to issue you this
formal Notice of Remedial Warning as authorized under Illinois law (105 ILCS 5/24-12).

The following conduct, if repeated or if not remedied, may result in charges being placed against
you for your dismissal from employment. You are hereby directed to correct and remedy each
and every one of the below:

1. During the 2021-2022 school year, you failed to exercise professional judgment when
you knowingly and intentionally damaged District property by using your vehicle to run
over District signs that read, “No Entry Staff Parking Only.”

Such conduct is clearly disrespectful of District property and in violation of the Board
Policies 8:30, Visitors to and Conduct on School Property, and 5:120, Employee Ethics;
Conduct; and Conflict of Interest. You were issued a written reprimand on October 28,
2021, for the aforementioned conduct and were directed to use better judgment, drive in a
safe and respectful manner on school grounds, report any incidents of damage to
property, and to hold yourself to a high standard of professional conduct.

2. During the 2021-2022 school year, you failed to exercise professional judgment in your
interactions with students. Specifically, students reported that you:
a. made inappropriate jokes and comments about their appearances;
b. made culturally insensitive comment to students;
c. made inappropriate jokes about students massaging your shoulders; and
d. broadcasted to your class without
being present or granting you permission.

Such conduct is in violation of Board Policy 5:120, Employee Ethics; Conduct; and
Conflict of Interest. You were issued a written reprimand on April 26, 2022, for the
aforementioned conduct and were directed to communicate with students in a positive
and professional manner that maintains proper boundaries and to refrain from using
sarcasm with students.

Cheryl
In no way would I have continued to hit the signs had I known they were being damaged. Period.

Eric -

I will convey your objection to the board. To be clear, you did admit to intentionally hitting the signs with your car. I will
assume you are stating your intent was not to damage them, just knock them down. Feel free to clarify further.

As for the term your response during the investigation was noted in the warning letter issued 5/26/22.

Hi Cheryl,

This statement is false...'knowingly and intentionally damaged District property'

and as previously discussed I didn't know what meant when I wrote it and thought it was a harmless word.

I have attached a draft of the resolution that I will recommend the board approve at the June 2, 2022 meeting. You
have declined the opportunity to address the board in closed session on this matter. Please let me know if you
object to any fact in the attached document. I will follow up after the board meeting.

As I am not able to attend tonight’s Board Meeting

To whom it may concern,

The purpose of this letter is to respond to specific statements
in regards to my interaction with student(s) on April 26,
2022, and how I failed to adhere to the prior direc ves when, approximately one month a er being reprimanded, I

I was not aware that meant this and the several adults
I spoke to about this matter did not know either.    I
have
reflected for a lengthy period on this and feel the Board should be made
aware that in no instance was the intent of
my exchange to write in that they were .   meaning to
me was that of a regular person.

Respectfully submitted,
Eric Jensen
