Feasibility Report

Purpose of report
The purpose is to decide which muscle car to buy.

Problem
• I have a budget of $65,000
• Show me options and I don’t know what to choose
• Limited amount of time to shop
• And I need something that I can use as a daily driver

Possible muscle cars to buy

1. 2022 Ford Mustang Mark 1

2. 2022 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
3. 2022 Dodge Challenger Hellcat SRT

Criteria
• It needs to get decent gas mileage
• Needs to have a fast 0- 60 time
• Plenty of horsepower and torque
• Good cargo room
• A lighter curb weight
• Good styling

Analyze
2022 Ford Mustang Mark 1:
This is honestly a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a nice mixture of
performance and a good daily driver. This comes equipped with a 5.0 v8 with 470
hp and 420 pound feet of torque through a six speed manual with 0 to 60 of 4.3
seconds and a curb weight of 3868 pounds. With an estimated fuel economy of 15
city and 23 highway and 13.5 ft.³ of cargo room. Although it is the slowest of the
three it’s certainly not a slow car and gets the best gas mileage and a reasonable
amount of cargo room. It is also the lightest.

2022 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1:

This is the fastest of the three particular cars. It is equipped with a 6.2 V-8 with
650 hp and 650-pound feet of torque driven through a 10-speed automatic
transmission, with a 0 to 60 of 3.5 seconds and the curb weight of 3,907 to
4,120 lbs. Gas mileage is 14 city and 20 highway. Although this is the most
powerful of the three it is definitely the heaviest and the least fuel-efficient. 7.3 to
9.1 ft.³ of cargo room. This is definitely the fastest of the three but unfortunately
it gets less than desirable gas mileage and has a very insufficient amount of cargo
room.

2022 Dodge challenger Hellcat SRT:

This is a true muscle car in every sense of the word-- in the retro styling and the
modern amenities and features. Good thing this comes with as much horsepower
as it does since it is the heaviest option. It comes equipped with a 6.2
supercharged V-8 with 717 hp and 656 pound feet of torque through an 8-speed
automatic or a 6-speed manual and 0 to 60 of 3.7 seconds, with a curb weight of
4428. Gas mileage 13 city 20 highway, and with 16.2 cubic feet of cargo room.
This has the most horsepower and quite a sizable amount of cargo room but it is
the heaviest and get the worst gas mileage.

The following cars will be evaluated on my scale 1 being the lowest and 10 being
the highest. And I will tally it up and see which is the best.

Criteria Mustang Mach 1 Camaro ZL1

MPG 7 6 5.9
0-60 8 10 9
Horsepower/torque 7 9 9.5
Cargo room 7.5 4.5 8
Curb weight 8.5 7 5
Looks/styling 8.5 7 9
Total 46.5 43.5 46.4

Conclusion
These are all, at the end of the day, extremely close and in my opinion it’s really
up to preference for the individual buyer. For me, I think they’re all fine options.
They all have their negatives and they all have their positives. On the one hand, if
you buy the Mustang you get a fun daily driver that is not going to break the bank
on gas, has a decent amount of cargo room, and it’s not horribly heavy. But if you
get the Camaro you get the fast option, but it is not going to be the best daily
because of the fact of the minimal cargo room. The Challenger gives you a good
amount of horsepower and is faster at 60, as well as a great amount of cargo
room, but has a massive pitfall in the fact that it doesn’t get good gas mileage.

Recommendation
Now even though the Mustang and the Challenger were almost tied, I would
actually suggest the Mustang over the Challenger-- it is a better daily driver by far.
It has more than enough horsepower to get you around and a good amount of
cargo room as well as good-but-not-great mpg. The Challenger is still a viable
option, but the Mustang is just slightly better.
