ABSTRACT

Recently parking has become a serious issue and even worsen, because of the increasing number of automobiles
everywhere. In this we propose an IoT based guidance for user to monitor and book the parking space for the
vehicle and for managing and monitoring free parking space, it provides an intelligent solution. It aims at
implementing smarter and better parking guidance mechanism which significantly reduces difficulty in
conventional parking system. The system can monitor the state of every parking slot by deploying a sensor node
on the slot. Accordingly, sensor senses the status of parking slot and send status to central node server
controller. The Node MCU collect the data from all sensor node and upload to the server where user can check
the parking status from anywhere using internet and any browser. User can also book a parking slot by creating
their profile on the server.

INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, main problem in malls, function halls and etc. is parking. It is due to the lack of sufficient parking
space. Now a days the vehicles in a family are greater than the head count of the family members, and due to
this the vehicles are also increased in the country, which leads to the parking scenario which is unhappily falling
short to the current requirements in the country. Due to this parking is difficult and it also increases the time
needed to park the vehicle with increase in the fuel consumption of the vehicle. And during the working days
the companies and offices are facing the problem of the parking in urban areas. Now a days vehicles are most
affordable to the low income group families also and the vehicles especially the cars are taking lot of space. Due
to the increase in vehicles the parking space is also not sufficient in this congested cities. Whether at a shopping
malls, stations and airport, problems with parking is a big issue. Most of the time people spend their time on
searching parking, to park their vehicles. Thus, lot of congestion occurs in the traffic which leads to a tedious

job to find the parking space to park their vehicle. The most traffic occurs only because of vehicle congestion in
the urban areas thus people are wasting time in searching the parking area abnormally to park their vehicles.
And one more issue is also added to this is pollution, which effects the entire environment due to this increase
in vehicles.

IOT Car Parking System Car parking is a major issues in modern congested cities of today. There simply are
too many vehicles on the road and not enough parking space. This has led to the need for efficient parking
management systems. Thus, we demonstrate the use of IOT based parking management system that allows for
efficient parking space utilization using IOT technology. To demonstrate the concept we use IR sensors for
sensing parking slot occupancy along with a dc motors to simulate as gate opener motors. We now use a WIFI
modem for internet connectivity and an AVR microcontroller for operating the system. We use IOTGecko for
online connectivity and IOT management GUI design. The system detects if parking slots are occupied using IR
sensors. Also it uses IR technology to sense if a vehicle has arrived on gate for automated gate opening. The
system reads the number of parking slots available and updates data with the cloud server to allow for checking
parking slot availability online. This allows users to check for available parking spaces online from anywhere
and avail hassle free parking, thus, the system solves the parking issue for cities and get users an efficient IOT
based parking management system.

OBJECTIVE & SCOPE

 To utilize the parking space efficiently using IOT technology which reduces the inconvenience and
saves time.
 To enable users to book parking slots online which saves time.
 To reduce the traffic congestion on roads.

NEED OF THE PROJECT

With the increase of automobiles on the road, the parking spaces are not efficiently managed to their full
capacity. Due to the incompetent ways in which the parking spaces are managed, people are hesitant to use the
allotted spaces to park their cars. They find it rather more convenient to park their vehicles on the roads. This
causes long, Unnecessary and easily avoidable traffic jams, thus slowing the day-to-day life of every person.
Thus, we propose an IOT based car parking system which provides an easy solution to the above problem. It
encourages people to use the allotted parking spaces due to its convenience. Further, it allows people to book
their parking slots online, thus saving time.

METHODOLOGY
An IR sensors is used which senses the parking slot occupancy. DC motors are used to simulate as gate opener
motors. A WIFI modem is used for internet connectivity and an AVR microcontroller for operating the system.
IOT Gecko is used for online connectivity and IOT management GUI design. The system detects if parking
slots are occupied using IR sensors. Furthermore, IR technology is used to sense if a vehicle has arrived on gate
for automated gate opening. The number of parking slots available are then read by the system and updates in
the data are made with the cloud server. This allows users to see if vacant parking spaces are available or not
online, from anywhere.
