Outlines
Project Overview
 The utilization of personal vehicles increases With
respect to the amount of population.
 Most of the people chooses personal vehicles than
public transportation.
 It is very difficult and time consuming to find parking
space especially during the rush hours.
 It is often costly in almost every big city in all over the
world to find proper and secure parking space.
Problem Statement

 Actual parking are inefficient parking allocation.

 Users are sometime forced to go around in circles to
find empty parking space.
 Actual parking leads to traffic delays as more cars starts
coming in the parking lot.
Proposed solution

 We propose in this project an automated system where

the parking gate will only open if it has free slots.
 Users can check it before arriving there by an
application on its smart phone.
 It will save the time as well as reduce the gathering in
front of parking area.
Objective

There are three main goals for this project:

Develop a website/application for checking vacant
parking spaces online.
To design and implement a system that can help users
to search for an available parking lot in real time using
mobile web application.
To design a system that deploy sensors to detect
availability parking space.
Previous works
Smart parking management system (SPMS)

 It provides essential services for users, including

searching for parking, reservations and payment.
 It is extended to cover more advanced services such as
receiving notifications, statistics and monitoring the
parking state.
 The system is connected to sensors to detect
occupancy and an automatic number plate recognition
(ANPR) camera to control access.
Previous works
An IoT-based E-Parking System for Smart Cities

 This work presents an internet-of thing (IoT) based E-

parking system that employs an integrated component
called parking meter (PM) to address the following
issues:
 Real-time detection of improper parking
 Estimation of each vehicles duration of parking lot usage
 Automatic collection of parking charges
Previous works
 Authors propose a smart sensor system allowing
outdoor parking monitoring and payment without
requiring any user/driver interaction.
 It will be deployed without having to install new
components on each parking lot.
 The proposed sensor has benefits in terms of detection
and payment reliability
System Design
Components
Node MCU ESP8266

 The Node MCU (Node MicroController Unit) is an open-

source software and hardware development
environment built around an inexpensive System-on-a-
Chip (SoC) called the ESP8266.

 The ESP8266, designed and manufactured by Espressif

Systems, contains the crucial elements of a computer:
 CPU,
 RAM,
 Networking (WiFi),
 A modern operating system,
 SDK.
Components
Node MCU ESP8266
Components
Infrared Sensor Module

 Proximity sensors often called, proximity switches

detect the presence of nearby objects without making
physical contact with them.

 There are several types of proximity sensors, including

those used to detect metallic or non-metallic objects.
Components
Infrared Sensor Module

 Connect the Vcc of the Sensor Module to the Vcc (5V) of

ESP Board
 Connect GND of the Sensor Module to the GND of the
ESP Board.
 Connect the output pin of the sensor module to any
digital pin of the ESP Board.
 When the Sensor detects an obstacle, the output will be
HIGH. Otherwise, it will be LOW.
Components
Servo motor

 A servo motor is a rotary actuator that allows for precise

control of angular position.
 It consists of a motor coupled to a sensor for position
feedback.
 Servo motor is controlled by PWM (Pulse with
Modulation) which is provided by the control wires.
Components
Servo motor

 Servo motor can be rotated from 0 to 180 degrees, but

it can go up to 210 degrees, depending on the
manufacturing.
 This degree of rotation can be controlled by applying
the Electrical Pulse of proper width, to its Control pin.

Conclusion

 In this proposed design of smart parking monitoring

based IoT we proposed an automated system where the
parking ground will only open if it has free slots for
parking.
 The user can also check it before arriving there by a
website.
 It will save the time as well as reduce the gathering in
front of parking area.
Conclusion

 This project will help people to track whether a parking

space is occupied or not.
 The main benefits are time and fuel saving.
 It can also provide sustainable parking management in
an eco-friendly manner.
Future Works

 As future work we proposed to implement the

proposed design and test its performance.
 Also we can propose a PV solar cell to power the
system.
