Desizing Agent:
Desizing is the process of removing the size material from warp yarns after a textile fabric is woven.
Desizing, irrespective of what the desizing agent is, involves impregnation of the fabric with the
desizing agent, allowing the desizing agent to degrade or solubilise the size material, and finally
to wash out the degradation products. The major desizing processes are:
Enzyme :
Enzyme washing or "bio stoning" is a textile manufacturing technique in which cellulase enzymes are
applied to denim. As with traditional stone washing, the intended effect is a faded appearance and
softer feel. Because the technique relies on biotechnology, enzyme washing is considered an example of
textile bio-processing.
The use of enzymes in textile industry is one of the most rapidly growing field in industrial enzymology.
The enzymes used in the textile field are amylases, catalase, and laccase which are used to removing the
starch, degrading excess hydrogen peroxide, bleaching textiles and degrading lignin.
Bleaching Wash:
Bleach wash is one of the garments washing process which is done by using a strong oxidative bleaching
agent. Sodium hypochlorite and potassium permanganate (KMnO4) are two bleaching agents. By
applying a bleaching agent, color can be removed uniformly from the garment, and removal of color has
done as per requirement (as the buyer’s provided wash approval). It should be noted that there are three
categories of bleaching, such as light bleach (where maximum color is removed), medium bleach, and
bleach. By applying bleaching wash special type of fading effect can be produced in the garments. Bleach
wash can be applied on all types of garments such as woven, knit, etc.
