SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

IN MATHEMATICS 7
I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

a. identify properties of equality;

b. illustrates linear equation in one variable; and
c. solve linear equations in one variable.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic : Linear Equation in One Variable

Reference : Mathematics 7/ Second Quarter – Module 32, ADM
Author : DepEd Region 10 – Development Team of Module
Materials : Power point Presentation, chalkboard, Pictures, Meter Stick, and Mystery
box.
Values Integration : Accuracy and Creative thinking skill
Skills : Writing, Reading, and Listening

III. PROCEDURE

A. PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES

1. Setting of classroom atmosphere

Request student to arrange their chairs and pick up pieces of paper on the floor.
2. Prayer
Call one student to lead the prayer.
3. Checking of students’ attendance.
The teacher checks the attendance with a twist.
4. Drill
Present the power point video clip of blinking numbers and letters. Let the students
identify it and name to what category/mathematical terms are they.
5. Review
The teacher recalls the lesson being discussed last meeting.

B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES

Motivation

Math – Race. Group the students into 2 groups, the teacher will show slides
containing scrambled letters. The group will rearrange the letters to form a Mathematical
term, each group will answer the given scrambled letters quickly and directly raise their
answer. The first group that will raise their correct answer will gain the point.

Presentation

Present the lesson objectives and the topic to be discussed to the class.

Discussion
1. The teacher unlocks the key terms that is being used in the lesson.
2. Present to the class the concept and its process of One-Step and Two-Step way of
Solving Linear equation on one variable.

C. GENERALIZATION

Ask the students of the following questions.

1. What are the properties of equality?
2. What are the ways of solving linear equation in one variable?
3. How will linear equation apply into our day to day living?

D. APPLICATION
GROUP ACTIVITY. Group the students into two groups. Let them answer the
problems on the picture that corresponds to their assigned direction.

IV. ASSESSMENT
Paper and Pen Test.
Direction: In a whole sheet of paper, solve and check linear equations using
property of equality.

1. 4y + 8 = 2

2. 3x + 2x = 11

3. X + 5 = 15

4. 6x = 18

5. -2 + 5y = 3
