Electric Rotating Unhusked Rice Mixer

HIGHLIGHTS

 Electric Rotating unhusked rice mixer is a machine use to mix unhusked rice for easy
drying which can be used by the local farmers.
 It is one the most important machine in farming rice in order to husk the rice properly and
intact.
 This will machine will save time and effort in drying unhusked rice.
 The material that is used in the machine have the best quality and safe to the operators.
 As prices of gasoline continuously increasing, it is more convenient and less expensive
compared to the gasoline powered mixer.

ABSTRACT

Rice is one of the most widely consumed crops by mankind. Drying unhusked rice grains are very
important as it will help to remove the moisture which will make the grains last longer for future
consumption. Even if there are benefits of drying, it takes time and effort, therefore there has to be a way
to speed up the process. Because the price of petroleum products is always rising, there must be a way to
find an energy source that is both inexpensive and efficient when compared to other machines that run on
gasoline. As a result, the researcher hopes to develop an environmentally friendly, low-cost machine that
can mix unhusked rice grains and speed up the drying process. This are the materials which the researcher
will use in order to create an electric rotating unhusked rice mixer: wires, plastics, electronic devices,
welding machine, screws, motor, grinder, drilling machine, wood and metal cutter, metal tubes, electrical
tapes, batteries and metal rod. The machine will be put through a series of testing to guarantee that it will
function properly when it is used to combine unhusked rice drying on the road. It will be tested to see if it
is functional and safe against electrocution. It will also be compared to unhusked rice drying without the
mixer, which will dry quicker. It has been discovered that drying unhusked rice with an electric rotating
unhusked rice mixer is faster than drying unhusked rice without one. This will benefit the people by
reducing the time and work required to dry the unhusked rice before milling it into rice grains. Rice grains
of excellent quality and shape can be produced from well-dried unhusked rice. This machine is
unquestionably dependable and convenient, making it a good innovation in the field of drying unhusked
rice.

INTRODUCTION

Rice is believed to feed half of the world's population, either entirely or partially. In Asia, 90% of
the world's harvest is cultivated and consumed. Despite rising consumption, annual consumption in the
United States is still approximately 25 lb. (11 kg) per person, compared to 200 to 400 lb. (90–181 kg) in
areas of Asia. Rice is the only major grain crop consumed directly by people after harvest, with only wheat
and corn producing comparable quantities. Plant breeders at the International Rice Research Institute in the
Philippines have consistently generated new varieties of miracle rice that allow farmers to significantly
enhance crop yields in order to keep up with demand from a growing global population. Rice is very
important to Asian countries like the Philippines as it is their staple food. Most fields are planted with rice in
rainy season which provides food and needs of the farmers. Rice plant needs proper care in order to grow
well. This rice plant then will be harvested an collect its grains. The process is not yet ended as the rice
grains needs to grind and remove its skin. Drying the grains is a crucial part and very important process
before milling. Rice drying aims to reduce moisture content to reach required limits for long-term storage

safety. Rice should be dried promptly in bins to a moisture level of about 12 percent to avoid any quality
degradation. In bins, rice can be dried by blowing enormous amounts of dry air across the grain. This
website will look into the difficulties of rice drying and storage, as well as providing the necessary
spreadsheets to help growers maintain rice quality while lowering drying and storage expenses. It makes the
grains hard so that the grains will not be crush and maintain its shape. It takes time and effort in drying the
unhusked rice grains so there must be a way to make the drying process faster. The price of petroleum
products is also continuously increasing so there must be a way to find an energy source that will be cheap
and efficient compared to the other machine powered by gasoline. That is why, the researcher wants to
create a machine that is eco-friendly and much cheaper which will be able to mix the the unhusked rice
grains and accelerate the drying process. A machine that will save time, money and effort of the local
farmers.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

This are the materials which the researcher will use in order to create a electric rotating unhusked
rice mixer:
 Wires
 Platic
 Electronic Devices
 Welding Machine
 Screws
 Motor
 Grinder
 Drilling machine
 Wood and metal cutter
 Metal tubes
 Electrical tapes
 Batteries
 Metal rod

With the use of concept from mechanical and electrical engineering, the researcher will perform
welding, drilling and cutting processes to the materials. This will make the parts of the machine. After that,
the materials will be connected with the use of wires that will be connected to each other in order to work
properly. Then, the machine will be assembled correctly. The machine will then, will undergo to a series of
tests in order to ensure that it will work properly by using it to mix the unhusked rice drying on the road. It
will be examined if it will work properly and safe from electrocution. It will also compare to the unhusked
rice drying without the mixer on which will dry faster.

CONCLUSIONS

Creating a machine is not an easy task. It requires time and effort to create it and work properly.
The electric rotating unhusked rice mixer that the researcher created is a very helpful and fully functional as
the result of the tests done to it. It finds out that using the electric rotating unhusked rice mixer will dry the
unhusked rice faster than drying the unhusked rice without mixer. This will help the people and save their
time and effort in drying the unhusked rice before milling it and become rice grains. Well-dried unhusked
rice will produce a good quality and perfect shaped rice grains. As price of the petroleum products are
continuously increasing, it is best option to use electrical energy. This machine is surely reliable and
convinient so it is recommended to the people and a good innovation in drying unhusked rice.
