to raise their five sons during Ferdinand Marcos' brutal regime. Despite the fact that their
parents saw themselves as political, most of their sons resent living under martial law and seek
solace in various types of action - or simply adolescent rebellion. Amanda begins to develop her
own dissident voice after her family is victimized by extreme violence. The location is the
Philippines' urban metropolis of Metro Manila. The film is set during the period of martial law in
Philippine history, which entails the temporary substitution of military authority for civilian
administration and is typically used in times of war, insurrection, or natural disaster. In the

The 1972 Martial Law was imposed by Ferdinand Marcos. The various historical

The declaration of martial law has an impact on social life because it claims to be the last
line of defense against rising disorder caused by increasingly violent student

movement (MNLF).
