Definition of Terms:

Policy-a course of action adopted and pursued by a government,


ruler, political party, a statement of intent and is
implemented as a procedure or protocol.
Sedition-conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the
authority of a state
Examples of seditious acts: Words that inspire a revolution that
overthrows the government
An activity or communication aimed at overthrowing governmental
authority.
Definition of Terms:

Bandits-a robber or outlaw belonging to a gang and typically


operating in an isolated or lawless area.

Concentration Camp-a place where large numbers of


people, especially political prisoners or members of
persecuted minorities, are deliberately imprisoned in
a relatively small area with inadequate facilities,
sometimes to provide forced labor or to await mass
execution.
American Peace Policies

Sedition Law- passed on November 4, 1901


This law prohibited all activities that would motivate
people to revolt against the Americans.

It also banned activities that contained sedition theme like


holding a stage plays and publication of newspapers and
reading materials that are opposition to the government.

This law also prohibited the Filipinos from advocation of


independence.
American Peace Policies

Brigandage Act- passed on November 12, 1902

Under this law, all Filipino guerilla and groups that worked for
Philippine independence were branded as bandits and thieves, and
they should be punished

Reconcentration Act-passed in June 1903


This act aimed to corner all guerillas hiding in faraway places.

It also relocated people from rural areas to the overcrowded


villages so that the rebels would not be able to get any support or
help from people.

Those who did not belong to any concentration camps were


considered enemies.

Flag Law- Under this law, the Americans


prohibited the raising and flying of the
Philippine flag anytime and anywhere from
1907 to 1918
