Nature of the Club

Grade School Student Council is an organization conducted by

students and supervised by adults. The purpose of the student
council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by
organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.
In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and
community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student
body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with
the school wide community.

History

In 1998 Barangayette Council was established as one of the programs of

the Guidance office. The council adapted a multi-party system wherein
officers were voted as mayor, vice-mayor and 4 councilors for grades 4
to 6. The council was created primarily to have young leaders spearhead
the annual outreach program of the school. Later on, the Barangayette
Council was tasked to create fund raising projects for the school. In
2010, the Barangayette Council changed its name to Grade School
Council. Thus, adapting a two party system with president, vice-
president and 4 senators for G4, G5 and G6. The GSC then became the
mother umbrella of all clubs and organizations of the grade school
department. The organization has developed a more intensive programs
in alleviating school spirit, camaraderie, leadership and social
responsiveness. The following programs have been organized by GSC:
DPS Cares (annual outreach), Salamat Ate, Salamat Kuya (for
maintenance and guards), K.K.K. (Kapuso, Kapatid, Kapamilya-
Indigenous tribe). At present, GSC had initiated a MOA with institutions
to further strengthen its social responsiveness.
