Difference between Earth’s Rotation and Earth’s Revolution

Earth’s Rotation Earth’s Revolution

Rotation of the earth is its turning on its axis.
The Earth takes 24 hours to complete a rotation
with respect to the sun.
The Earth’s axis of rotation is tilted by 23.5
degrees. This tilt causes the different seasons of
the year
Revolution is the movement of the Earth around
the Sun.
The Earth takes a full year (365 days) for one
complete revolution around the Sun.
The path of the Earth moving around the Sun is
called an orbit. The Earth’s orbit is elliptical.

Example

The illustration shows that the earth rotates in its axis as it revolves around the sun. The tilt of
Earth’s axis makes day and night. The Earth revolves from west to east. The Earth completes one
revolution around the Sun in one year.
