Safe Edge

- Mark out using odd-legs or dividers

- Bend over at right angles using fold bars and mallet
- Increase the angle of bend over a hatchet stake. If necessary, this stage may be omitted.
- Mallet edge over a piece of waste tinplate.
- Mallet edge down on a stake.

Types of Chisels

- Flat
- Cape or Cross-Cut
- Round nose
- Diamond point

Removal of Broken Tap

- Tap Extractor
- Use of EPM machine to burn tap
- Use pliers if enough tap is exposed

Use of chisels

- Flat- to cut flat sheets, small rivets, bolts, and screws

- Cape/Cross- cut to clean out groves
- Round Nose - cut to round groves and correct the start of the wrongly drilled hole
- Diamond point - to chip in corners

Steps of Procedures for taping

- Select correct tap and drill bit

- Drill required hole.
- Start tap squarely
- Use taps in sequence.
- Back-up to break chips
- Use Lubricant
Precautions when chiseling
- Remove mushroom from the head of the chisel
- Hold chisel firmly and correctly
- Maintain correct

Sooty Flame Name

- Luminous

Reason for acetylene flame

- Only Acetyline is burning
- Little or no oxygen is in the mixture of gases
- High Carbon Content

Procedure for casting

- Create a replica of the workpiece by increasing its size by 2 units.

- Prepare the sand and properly place the replica into it
- By placing the replica into the sand it will form the cope, drag, and an empty space which
is called the cavity.
- Remove the replica once the cope and drag are properly formed.
- Securely clamp both halves of the mold, then prepare and pour the molten metal into
the cavity.
- Wait for the metal to fully set and harden then separate the mold to remove the metal.
Procedure for producing the decorative bar.

- Place the bar of steel in the vise and tighten it.

- Cut the end of a ½ inch thick square solid bar stock to your desired length
- Start up the oxy-acetylene torch
- Heat the section of the workpiece until it is bright orange. We heat the metal so that it
can become malleable. Therefore the process of turning will be easier and more
efficient.
- Clamp one end of a vise
- Use an adjustable wrench and carefully but firmly twist the metal before it cools.
- Twist in an Anti-Clock Wise Direction until you have reached your desired design.

Neutral Flame
This is the most preferred type of flame for welding. The reason it is called the neutral
flame is that the flame does not react chemically on the metal while welding. The flame
is produced when there is a one-to-one ratio or balance of the volume of acetylene and
oxygen. A
Oxidizing Flame
Oxidizing Flame which has a higher temperature than a natural flame is produced when
there is a greater volume of oxygen mixed together with acetylene.
