M1-POST TASK

The field of nursing where I am most interested right now is the surgery field. Ever since I
realized that I wanted to be in the medical field, I see myself as one of those healthcare workers
in the operating room assisting the surgical doctor, in the recovery room providing care to
patients after their surgery. Surgery is one of the crucial parts a person must undergo in order to
prolong their lives and I wanted to be the person who will be there for them before, during and
after their operation. One of my many reasons why I pursue the medical field is because I want
to prolong life in any ways that I can, I want to ease their pain and give them comfort throughout
the challenges they will face medically. I know that being a surgical nurse is not easy and that it
requires great skills in order to perform my job properly without causing any harm to my patients
but I know and I trust myself enough to be in the surgical field.

M2-PRE TASK
1. What is your idea about how nursing started?
-I think nursing started at home, right after a mother gives birth to her child. It is our
mother who nurtured and cared for us first as they let us breastfeed from them the first time we
were hungry. Nursing is an art of care, and everyone is being cared for and nurse by their
mothers even if they are old enough.

2. How did you think nursing developed into a profession?

-Before, being a nurse doesn’t require you to attain a certain degree and take a licensure
exam. But as time goes on, people focus on how important life is and it should not just be
handled by someone who is not really an expert. That's why the nursing programs are being
offered to become more knowledgeable and develop skills in the said profession. And after
achieving the program, nurses are required to take a board examination in order to have a
license to practice nursing.

3. Do you think Nursing is an art or a science? Or both?

-Nursing is both an art and a science. Nursing is not nursing without either one of them
as nursing requires scientific knowledge at the same time an art of skills. To become a nurse, a
person must have both an art of holistic care and scientific knowledge for health.
