(50 mm). ‘The Contractor shall establish a system of ‘materials receiving control" that will ensure that piping materials received at the construction site are properly identified. In addition, the material control system shall ensure that only the intended material is used for construction, DEFINITIONS Maximum design temperature of the tlud contained in a pipe, if not otherwise specified, shall be determined trom the design temperatures specified for the equipment which is connected by the pipe, taking into account the direction of flow. Water service, used herein, includes line service classification up to and including ANSI Class 150 rating and 200°F (150°C) design temperature. it excludes all boller feedwater and high pressure condensate lines. Asbestos-cement pipe meeting the requirements of this Basic Practice nay be used TOF burfed water piping with operating pressures up to 200 psi (1400 kPa). MATERIALS Asbestos-cement pipe and coupling sleeves shall be per AWWA C400 or ASTM C296. Fittings shall be cast iron, ANSI Class 250 per ANSI A21.10, except That the bells shall be specifically designed for asbestos-cement pipe with gasketed joints. Rings for coupling assemblies shall be per ASTM D 1869, synthetic SubESE, oll -resistant type. Internal lining or external coating for asbestos-cement pipe and Sleeves, i? required by this Basic Practice, shall consist of a prime coat and an asphalt enamel finish coat, equivalent to Grade A, per the Asphalt Institute $S7. The asphalt enamel shall be machine applied to a thickness of 3/32 in. (+ 1/32 in.). (2.5 mm + 0.8 mm). Fittings shall be cement-mortar lined using the "Standard Thickness" and pitunincus material seal coat per ANSI/AWWA C104. Buried lines shall be installed according to installation requirements outlined in 18P3-2-1. Asbestos-cement pipe joints shall not terminate above ground. The angular deflection between any two adjacent lengths of pipe shall TOE exceed 5 degrees Tor pipe ‘sizes up to NPS 12 (525.9 mm 0D) and 4 degrees for larger pipe. The minimum acceptable total cover of backfill, after tamping, shall be 3 ft. (0.9 m) and at road crossings, within refinery limits, the minimum cover shall be 6 ft. (2m). Alternatively, steel or concrete sleeves may be used. The minimum total cover over sleeves shall be 3 ft. (0.9 m). Pipe crossings under railway tracks shall be in accordance with TBP3-7-1. Hairline cracks will show up as dark lines because of higher absorption of the Liquid. b. All defective sections found by this method shall be cut off and the pipe ends remachined. 6.2 After installation, the system shall be hydrostatically tested. The fest pressure shall be 1.5 times the maximum operating pressure, with the test pressure being maintained for 2 hours while leakage rate is measured and joints are inspected for leakage. MATERIALS 3.1 Pipe for shop applied lining shall be straight within 1/8 in (3 mm) in any 10 ft. (3000 mm) of length. 3.2. The interior of the pipe shall be free of all foreign matter, except adherent rust and scale. Rust and scale shall be classified as adherent if it cannot be removed by lifting with a dull putty knife. 3.3 Cement Type. The dry mix shall contain from 25 to 45 wt.% of Portland Cement. The selection of coment-types for concrete exposed to sulfate shall be governed by the following: Sulphate Exposure Tricaleium Aluminate in Cement (ppm (mg/L) in solution) a (vt. max) = ‘moderate 150-1500 8 severe > 1500 5 3.4 The remainder of the dry mix shall consist of one or more of the following materials: a. Raw or calcined natural pozzolans per ASTM C618. b. Fly ash per ASTM C618, except that loss on ignition shall not exceed 4 wt. "a ¢. Granulated blast furnace slag per ASTM C595. 4d. Natural silica sand per ASTM C33 for FINE AGGREGATE. ‘¢. Glass sand (silica flour) ground so that 100% passes a No. 200 (75 jz m) sieve. This sand shall contain not less than 98% Silica, as determined by ASTM C146. Up to 3 wt. % of inorganic fibers may be used when lining fittings. Only water having less than 500 ppm (500 mg/L) chlorides shall be used in mixing the cement. Potable water will mect this requirement. LINING PROCEDURES APPLICATION OF SHOP APPLIED LININGS 4.1 Pipe shall be lined by the centrifugal process per ANSI/AWWA C104 or C 205. 4.2 *Fittings shall be lined unless otherwise specified. The process used shall be capable of producing linings equal to straight pipe linings. 4.3. Hand patching or the application of additional slurry after initial spinning shall not be permitted at other than the ends of pipe unless approved by the Inspector. Hand application of lining at pipe ends is perinitted within 2 hours of initial spinning. 4.4 Lining finish at pipe ends shall be smooth and square with the longitudinal axis of the pipe, or with a longitudinal tangent in the case of the fittings. 4,5 Flame cutting of lined pipe is not acceptable. Cutting tools shall be used in order to avoid ragged edges on the concrete. APPLICATION OF LININGS IN PLACE (FIELD APPLIED) 4.6 Lining of straight run piping and lateral connections shall be by machine placement per ANSI/AWWA C602. 4,7 Hand patching shall be completed within 24 hours from the time of machine placement. CURING OF FINISHED LININGS, COMMON REQUIREMENTS 4.8 The following curing methods are acceptable: a, With a seal coating as per ANSI/AWWA C 104, except that an epoxy coating is an acceptable substitute for the bituminous coating. b. Awet cure by means of steam or water sprays, where the lining shall be kept moist for at least 24 hours after placement, 4.9 Curing procedure shail conform to the following: a, Curing shall begin while lining is still damp, but not less than 2 hours nor more than 6 hours after initial spinning or hand application. b. The finished lining shall be uniform and smooth and shall not haves a. Spalled or loose ends. Fractures or cracks extending more than half way through the lining, or more than 1/16 in. (1.5 mm) wide. ¢. Suface defects indicating honeycombed or open texture. (Superficial surface crazing shall not be cause for rejection.) 4d. Defects which indicate imperfect proportioning, mixing, molding, or curing ‘SHIPPING AND HANDLING CEMENT LINED PIPE AND FITTINGS 6.1 Bending of cement lined piping sections during shipping and handling shall not exceed 5 degrees, as measured between a chord and tangent. 6.2 Slings shall be used for lifting cement lined piping sections. The use of hooks in pipe ends for lifting is prohibited. 6.3 Support of shop lined pipe. Pipe lengths shall not exceed 10 ft. (3 m) for PTFE, and 20 ft. (6 m) for other plastic linings, in order to limit differential thermal expansion between the pipe and the lining Maximum allowable deflection of thermoplastic and RTAP pipe shall not exceed 5%, taking into account applicable live and dead loads: Proposals to use cemented joint thermoplastic pipe or ATAP pipe shall be submitted to purchaser for aporoval by ‘Owner's Engineer. Underground piping will be double wall - eg Envirotlex system, FABRICATION Venting to relieve potential pressure stresses due to gas permeation into the area between the liner and metal pipe is required per ASTM F423 and ASTM F546 and for some liner thicknesses per ASTM F491. This requirement ‘may be waived provided the piping has been vacuum tested and is rated for full vacuum at the specified design temperature INSTALLATION Bolt torque values to provent liner damage shall be provided by the pipe vendor. Bolts shall be tightened with a suitable torque wrench to insure these torque values are not exceeded. Plastic spacers are permitted between plastic-ined pipe and other types of flanged equipment in non- flammable or non-combustible service. Spacers longer than 1/2" (19 mm) shall be armoured. Connections shall he made up without the use of sealing compound or PTFE (Teflon) tape. All cutting cil shall be removed. After the joint has been tightened to full thread engagement, seal welding shall cover all exposed threads or 1/4 in. (6 mm) minimum, Hb. Seal welding shall be done with electrodes not (0 exceed 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) in diameter using an amperage in the low range to avoid distortion of the connection or part being welded. 5.7.1 Insulating flanges shall be inserted near the outboard end of the hose to electrically isolate the tanker from the hose. The flange face shall not be in a permanent vertical orientation. Insulating materials used shall assure that the flanges are impervious to moisture and are compatible with the product properties and temperatures involved. DRAWINGS AND DATA 3.2 *Within 60 days from placing the order, the vendor shall submit the information required by OCIMF Specification Part III Section 5.0, modified per the following, to the purchaser for approval by the Owner's Engineer: a. LAYOUT AND ARRANGEMENT 5.3 *Arm lengths, clearances and location of the trunnion swivel joint connection shall be determined by the vendor based on the specified operating envelope. Lengths and clearances shall be determined on the basis that arms may be operated singly and in combination, for both maximum and minimum ‘manifold spacings as specified. 5.4 *Spacing between loading arms and the configuration of outboard and apex swivel joints shall provide for the condition existing when adjacent arms are simultaneously connected to adjacent manifolds. When specified, a single arm shall be able to accommodate tanker manifold positions throughout its operating envelope while adjacent arms are in the stored position. 5.5. *In the stored position no portion of the arm shall extend beyond the loading platform face. All such components (e.g. hydraulic lines and cylinders near the end of the arm) shall remain fully operable when exposed to a fire and be able to withstand a temperature of 2012°F (100°C) for 1.5 minutes and 662°F (350°C) for 10 minutes. CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATING/CONTROL DESIGN 10.1 In the event control mode is lost while maneuvering, the arm shall slowly return to the stored Position. Arm return shall be accomplished by slightly overcounterweighting the inboard leg and undercounterweighting the outboard leg. 10.2 When specified, an air motor driven pump and manual overide provision for solenoid operated valves shall be provided to allow control of the arm should an electrical power failure occur. This system shall prevent damage to the arm or hydraulic system when the tanker moves while the arm is partially or fully connected to the tanker and is still under the control of the hydraulic system. “Over-ride”” shall be accomplished without using the main hydraulic relief valve. INSPECTION AND TESTING ‘The term Inspector as used in this Basic Practice refers to the Owner's representative, Radiographic examination and acceptance criteria shall be as follows: a. All welds in product carrying members subject to pressure: per IBP 3-18-1 except 100% radiographic examination is required, b. All ferrous and non-ferrous castings of product carrying members: 100% radiographed with examination method per ASME Code Section V, Article 2, and acceptance criteria per ASME Code Section VIII, Appendix 7. €. All non-ferrous eastings of product carrying members: The vendor shall submit its acceptance standards for casting quality to the purchaser for approval by Owner’s Engineer. Liquid penetrant examination. All non-ferrous castings of product carrying members and weld overlays of all fluid-carrying swivel joints shall be examined by the liquid penetrant method. Examination method shall be per ASME Code Section V, Article 6, and acceptance criteria shall be per ASME Code Secton VIII, Appendix 8. Ferrous castings of product carrying members shall be examined by the magnetic particle method. Examination method shall be per ASME Code Section V, Article 7, and acceptance criteria shall be pet ASME Code Section VIII, Appendix 7 11.5 Hydrostatic testing. Arm assemblies with welded product carrying members subject to pressure, whether completely shop assembled or partially shop assembled with final field welds, shall be hydrostatically tested to 1.5 times design pressure or 275 psig (1900 kPa), whichever is the greater, The test pressure shall be maintained for 8 hours. For previously tested arms where final field assembly involves only bolted joints, a hydrostatic leak test shall be conducted at the same pressure for 1-1/2 hours. Any leakage noted during either test—whether by a drop in gage pressure or by visual indication—shall be cause for rejection. ‘Testing shall be conducted in the field with the arm fully assembled in place, in the hydrostatic test position, The arm can be restrained during hydrostatic testing to help limit stresses from external sources. 11.6 Welds in product carrying members subject to pressure shall be left unpainted until after completion of hydrostatic pressure testing. 11.7 Shop tests. One arm of each type in each order shall be erected at the vendor's plant and operated through the angular equivalent of the full operating range before shipment. Such tests shall be witnessed by the inspector. These tests shall also confirm the calculated values of arm tilt or lean due to fluid loading 11.8 The hydraulic system for each arm and the control stations shall be flushed, and performance and leak tested in the shop after final fabrication. Open end lines shall be labeled to facilitate field assembly. The liquid shall be relieved to the upstream side of the valve unless otherwise specified. Final design shall be approved by purchaser. 5.14.1 The valves shall be marked “SOFT SEALED VALVE”. If body bleed is specified in location G or H (ANSI B16.34), testing per API 598 par. 4.4.2.3 with leakage measure through the open bleed is required: 1, For all buttwelding end valves. 2. The test valve shall be stroked open and shut at least one time prior to these tests. b. The High Pressure Closure test shall be performed with water at a pressure not less than 110% of the valve pressure rating at 100°F (38°C), With the soft seals in place, no leakage is permitted on either the High Pressure Closure test or the Low Pressure Seat Test. 6.6 Closure torque during test. For handwheel and gear operated valves, closure torque shall not be greater than that attainable by hand-tightening.
