PURPOSE : To provide a guide explaining the SI Metric System of Units for the
measurement of quantities, such as length, mass and time; and to
furnish information for the use and selection of preferred SI units,
including conversion factors from customary American Units to SI Units.

Customary SI
The International System is not the old Derived units are expressed
centimeter-gram second system, but is a algebraically in terms of base units by means of
modernized version. Consequently, SI is the mathematical symbols of multiplication and
considered to significantly improve and unify the division. Several derived units have been given
cgs system and the worldwide trend is toward special names and symbols which may,
increasing its use. themselves, be used to express other derived units
in a simpler way than in terms of the base units.
SI consists of base units, derived units, and
supplementary units. In addition, other units not 5.3 Supplementary Units
a part of SI, may be used together with SI; these
are other allowable units. The SI includes two additional, purely
geometrical, units. These are called
5.1 Base Units supplementary units. They are the SI Unit of
plane angle, the radian (rad) and the SI Unit of

From these base units, units for all Units of mass are involved if the
other mechanical quantities are derived. These quantity of matter is involved such as 1 kg butter

To compute the force due to a mass,
velocity = length/time one must know the magnitude and direction of
acceleration = velocity/time accelerations. Therefore, the gravitational force
work = force x length of a mass becomes just a special case in the SI
power = work/time System in which the acceleration is downward
and almost constant on earth, namely 9.81
m/sec2.
