1. Did your Intake Totals equal the Recommended Totals from the My Healthy Plate?
My Intake Totals hit the recommended totals from my health plate for everything except
vegetables as it is very difficult to find fresh produce like fruits and vegetables from my chosen
convenience store which is 7/11.
2. Did you have an easy time meeting the My Healthy Plate Recommendations? List the
groups that were hard to fulfill recommendations for and give one reason why for each one.
I think it was easy in terms of convenient ready-to-eat meals at 7/11. Hence it was easier to
meet my requirements for meat/protein, carbohydrates. However, as it is very difficult to find
fresh produce like fruits and vegetables at convenience stores fulfilling recommendations for
vegetables was difficult.
3. How does this store compare to the way you usually shop for food?
Usually, I only shop for snacks at 7/11 as I wasn’t really aware that I could get decent meals at
a convenience store. It was interesting to see that convenience stores were making an effort in
including nutritious meals in their outlets.

Using the information from above, (Food Purchase Option 2), answer the
following questions:
4. Did your Intake Totals equal the Recommended Totals from the My Healthy Plate?
Yes
5. Did you have an easy time meeting the My Healthy Plate Recommendations? List the
groups that were hard to fulfill recommendations for and give one reason why for each one.
I had an easy time meeting the My Health Plate Recommendations. FairPrice is a grocery store with
wide range of products in Singapore and one of my chosen places to get groceries from. Hence, there’s
no group that was hard to fulfill recommendations for.
6. How does this store compare to the way you usually shop for food?
The things I shop at this store are usually things like bread, meat, few vegetables. However,
my family and I like shopping from the Indian store more as there’s more variety of things we
actually eat on a day-to-day basis. We cook almost all our meals at home hence, we buy more
fresh produce, rice, lentils, fresh meat, spices etc.
6a. Is this the type of store you normally shop at? Please explain.
I shop at this store usually.
- The price is reasonable
- Located very close to my house
- Has a wide range of food/products to choose from
However. This place has minimal “ethnic” food. I am an Indian and there’s little to no Indian
food at this grocery store. To shop for things like dal, Indian vegetables, spices, etc. my family
goes to this Indian store called Mustafa. Hence, although Fair Price is convenient it has very
less products to offer in terms of things I eat on a day- to-day basis.
6b. Would these be the foods you would normally purchase? Please explain.
I wouldn’t purchase all of the meals listed as I don’t consume sea food, I like making my
own food, I enjoy Indian food more as compared to the local food in Singapore.
