Kactus Kapers: Presented by Lynn Zeemont
So far 60 PHCC players are signed up. Invitations have been sent to 30 other
clubs.
Lynn reported that the Pro Shop is running things, with a new format to keep
players involved each day of play. Friday will include the putting contest, Big
Break and other games. Friday night, any interested men will be invited at
their own expense to experience the Calcutta, in which teams in each flight are
bid on to win or place. The LGA will get a percentage of the money bet. Lynn
mentioned that “the Supremes” may show up…
There will be hole sponsors, a raffle, and auction items. Paula is in charge of
the raffle and is seeking donations of cash.
Any questions, contact Lynn or Chris.
Vicki reminded all LGA members that our Constitution states that “The object
of this Association is the promotion of good fellowship and sportsmanship among
its members…” (Article II)
She encouraged all members to remember and follow this guideline. Nick was
asked to clarify the Rules of Golf regarding caddies. He reminded the group
that there is no language prohibiting caddies in our Constitution, Bylaws, or
Procedures. Therefore, any player may use a caddie at any time. The only
caution is whether having several caddies on a given hole will affect pace of

play. Nick will print the Rules of Golf to clarify the rules governing caddie
behavior, as well.
After a question about “gimmes” and marking of putters by the Pro Shop, a
decision was made regarding “gimmes” in LGA play: on non-tournament days,
if a group (threesome/foursome) wishes, they can decide on the first tee
whether to give “gimmes” as well as how long “gimme” distance will be. Nick
suggested not longer than distance from the putter to the leather. However,
there are no gimmes allowed in tournament play, such as Jill of the Hill
tournaments, when all putts must be holed.
