by Olicity17
Summary
Tim + Lucy find a baby at a crime scene. Instead of the baby going into the foster care
system, Tim decides to take the baby.
Has he bitten off more than he can chew?
Notes
Just a little fluff piece. As we all love Dadford, it would be nice to see Tim with a baby.
The baby would not stop crying, Tim was questioning his decision to bring the baby home.
He and Lucy had found an adorable baby boy at a crime scene. The baby’s mother was dead, and
DCFS didn’t have any luck finding a next of kin.
The mother was an homeless junkie and no one seemed to know who the father was.
The reasonable choice was to place the boy into the system, to get him situated with licensed foster
parents.
However Tim had formed a paternal bond with the baby and couldn’t bear to see him placed into
the system.
Tim practically begged the social worker to let him take the baby home. He was already a licensed
foster parent for the past 12 years. He was a cop and owned his own home so he was financially
stable and not some flight risk.
The social worker agreed to the arrangement on a trial basis. Once the baby was checked out by a
medical professional he could go home with Tim.
The doctor determined the baby was fine, a little underweight but fine nonetheless.
So that’s how Tim ended up with a beautiful baby boy, who wouldn’t stop crying. Kojo ran into
another room anything to get away from all the crying.
Tim had tried everything, checking to see if the baby was hungry, if he need his diaper changed, if
he was sick but nothing helped he still cried.
Tim was almost at the end of his rope, feeling like a failure.
He grabs the phone ready to call Angela, but remembers that she’s away on vacation, and Gennys
too far away. So he calls Lucy.
Lucy: Tim?
Tim: Yes it’s Tim. I don’t know what to do. Can you come over?
Lucy: I was just picking up dinner with Tamara. We’re on our way.
Fifteen minutes later Lucy texts Tim, that they’re there, as to not disturb the baby. But he was still
crying.
Tim opens the door to the ladies. “Thank you so much coming” he tells them gratefully.
Tamara and Lucy exchange a look, they’ve never seen Tim so overwrought before.
“It’s no problem” lucy says and takes the baby from Tim’s arms, gently rocking him and talking
softly to the baby.
Tamara grabs kojo leash and calls for the boy, who bounces over to her happily. Eager to get away
from the crying.
“Ok I’m gonna take this guy for a walk. I’ll be back soon” she calls behind her, to them.
Tim was currently watching Lucy, rocking the baby, whilst humming a sweet lullaby. The babies
cries have slowly simmered down, either that or they’ve gone deaf.
“I don’t know what I was thinking. I can’t take care of a baby” he says frustrated.
“Don’t lose heart Tim. You had one little setback-teething troubles. You’re learning what works
and what doesn’t. You’re gonna adapt...and figure it out” she tells him.
“However I do have a question, what’s this little guys name?” She asks.
“Oh DCFS tracked down a birth certificate, his name is Levi James” replies Tim.
Then Tamara came back in with kojo, who was panting happily from his walk and goes over to his
bed for a little nap. Tim looks at Tamara wondering what was going on with the dog.
Tim and Lucy chuckle lightly, then remember the baby, who had just fallen asleep in Lucy’s arms.
Lucy moves to put him in his crib in Tim’s room. Leaving Tim and Tamara alone.
Tim rolls his eyes at the teenager. “I think they’re calling them dads now” he jokes.
“Har, har very funny Tim. If you need someone to watch him or to walk kojo, I’m around” Tamara
says, trying not to be awkward.
“Thanks, T. I have a feeling I’m gonna need all the help I can get” he says.
Tamara smiles sympathetically. “Well then you’re lucky, because you have plenty of help” she
tells him.
Lucy watches the sweet moment from doorway, trying to keep her emotions in check.
She walks over to them, “I’m starving. Let’s eat” she says.
“The place with those delicious spring rolls?” Tim asks, practically salivating.
“Yes” Tamara says, while Lucy dishes up. “We got some for you too” Tamara tells him.
