ANG BANDERA ESPANYOLA THE SPANISH FLAG

By: Demy P. Sonza Translated by: Lalaine F. Luza

Ang bandera Espanyola, The Spanish flag,

‘Kon hayahay sang Espanya, Is the true banner of Spain,
Gingingadlan pagpadungog, She was named for honor,
Sa pungsod nga labing bantog. In a land most famous and known.

Sa sulod apat ka siglo, For four long centuries,

Ang Espanya nagpangulo, The Spanish Crown strongly led,
Sa impiryo nga malapad, In a royalty so vast and majestic,
Di’in hayahay nya galupad. Where her colors proudly soars above.

Ginsugid pa sa hinambog, It was a far-fetched story told,

Nga’ng adlaw waay gatunod, That the sun never set,
Sa malapad na impiryo, In a magnificent kingdom,
Halin sa Guam tubtob Peru. Beginning from Guam to Peru.

Madugay na nga narumpag, You collapsed and shattered ages ago,

Yadtong impiryo nalaglag, That fallen regal land,
Apang iyang handuman, But her memories and thoughts,
Tubtob karon mabatyagan. Until now, are here to stay,

Amo man ini nga bulak, This is the same flower,

Daw adlaw nga bag-ong butlak, Seems like a sun that rises anew
Masiga ang iyang duag, She is blazing in glory,
Talagsahon sa kaanyag. Rare and unique in her beauty.

Dugay ko na siya nakita, I saw her a long time ago,

Nadunot nagid sa duta, Rotten and decayed on the ground,
Apang iyang kagayonan, But her splendor remains,
Kalipay sa panumduman. A joy to one’s memory.
