Caring, Cleansing and Charging Your Crystals

21.Caring For Your Crystals

To keep your crystal collection in tip top condition it is a good idea to observe the following.

1. Separate the crystals that you use for healing to those you use for decoration at home, keep
the ones you use for healing work only for healing work.
2. Always store your crystals in a suitable container, avoid allowing them to bang together in
the same box.
3. Points of crystals can be broken very easily, take extra care with them e.g. wands, mine are
stored with blu tack over the points.
4. Keep in a dust free environment, crystals covered in dust stop working effectively and can
even die (this means that there is no charge left in them, they often split and break when
this happens, and if this does happen then you need to bury them in the earth)

22.Cleansing and Charging Your Crystals

A crystal functions by absorbing energy from its surroundings into its internal structure, where
imbalances are corrected. They need to be energetically cleansed before and after every use, if it is
not cleansed, the crystal will become overloaded, which reduces its effectiveness and may cause it
to transfer imbalances into the aura. The crystal may even split or crack as described above, they are
like batteries and can only hold so much negative charge which is why it is so, so important to
cleanse them. To cleanse and recharge your crystals please choose one of the following methods
depending on the size of the crystal.

1. Hold the crystal under running water and say in your mind’s eye, “ I wash all negativity to
the light”, crystals love sea water, but running them under the tap in the kitchen is as
effective.

If one doesn't work for you, always depend on your intuition and try another cleansing
method.

1. Sunlight

2. Moonlight

3. Smudging –

4. Running water - (do not use this crystal cleansing method on porous crystals e.g. Azurite)
