Crystal Therapy
Diploma Course
Introduction

Welcome to the professional Crystal Therapy Diploma. Inside this course you will explore the

history of crystals and their potential as a healing/holistic therapy. This course provides you with a

unique insight into crystals, their energy and how to set up as a Crystal Therapist. Crystals have

been used for Millennia as an aid in everyday life and for healing and they continue to do so today.

This course explores crystals and their unique uses in both of these areas in detail and can be used

as a vital stepping stone towards a new career or as a voyage of self-discovery.

Module 1 - The History of Crystals

Crystals have been used throughout the ages as talismans, amulets and adornment by many different

civilisations in a multitude of ways. The Ancient Sumerians where one of the first to reference the

use of crystals within magic formulations. The Ancient Egyptians used a number of different

crystals and semi-precious stones in their jewellery such as lapis lazuli, turquoise, carnelian,

emerald and clear quartz. Within the Ancient Egyptian culture these were used primarily for

protection and health. The Egyptians also used crystals cosmetically as they ground down lead ore

and used as kohl.

The word crystal actually comes from the Greek word for ice. The Ancient Greeks believed that

clear quartz was water that had frozen so deeply that it would always remain in solid form. The

Ancient Greeks also attributed a number of properties to crystals and many of the names that we use

for crystals today are of Greek origin. Hematite was often crushed and placed on a soldier’s body as

this was believed to make them invincible.

The Romans used crystal talismans and amulets as they believed that they would enhance their

health and enable them to attract desirable things. The Chinese since ancient times have always

valued Jade highly and have used crystals within their own healing and energy balancing therapies

for example by using crystal tipped needles in acupuncture. The Aryuvedic practices in India also

consider crystals as being valuable in the healing of emotional and metaphysical imbalances and

conditions.

Minerals, crystals and gems have therefore been used for Millennia to enhance the emotional,

spiritual and physical wellbeing of people across many ancient civilisations.

From the 11th century in Europe right through to the Renaissance period the virus of various semi-

precious stones were extolled in the treatment of certain ailments. The stones would typically be

used alongside herbal remedies and again many of these stones were believed to have particular

qualities of strength or protection. Using semi-precious stones to heal was at this time still quite

widely accepted.

Although no longer in use medically in more recent times semi-precious stones and crystals were

still given meaning and used. For example Jet was worn as a sign of mourning and during times of

war garnet was worn.

In the 1980s crystals and semi-precious stones saw a resurgence as the New Age Culture began

once again to use them as an aid to healing.

Due to the advances in science and our greater understanding of frequency and vibration we now

understand that all things are a form of energy. Each energy has its own frequency and vibration,

including crystals. We have now begun to gain scientific evidence through the breakthroughs in

quantum science and the concepts of electromagnetism that support what the ancients already knew

that certain forms of energy can affect other forms of energy when the two are within the same

space. This is why crystal healing is now becoming more readily accepted in modern day society.

Those who now practice Crystal Therapy believe that a crystal vibrates at its own frequency and

that when it is placed within our own energy field it is able to connect to our own vibrational

frequency and can stimulate biochemical responses that can affect our physical health in a positive

manner.

What are Crystals

Crystals are any substance in which the atoms are arranged in a geometric, symmetrical and 3d

pattern. This pattern is what is known as crystalline.

Crystals where formed as the earth itself formed and continued to change over time. Crystals bear

the indelible memory of the powerful forces that made them and shaped them. Some crystals were

subjected to enormous amounts of pressure whilst others were formed in layers and others formed

in chambers deep underground. Most crystals have natural origins and have formed through

inorganic means such as geological processes within the earth or via organic means within

creatures. However they were formed their crystalline structures are believed to be able to absorb,

focus, conserve and emit energy.

Module 2 - Choosing, cleansing, energising and storing your
crystals.

Choosing your Crystals

When choosing a crystal it is important to take your time and not hurry the process. It is vital to

choose the right crystal or more importantly to be open to the right crystal choosing you. It is for

this reason that it is not recommended that you order your crystals online as you have no way of

knowing if the crystal purchased will be right for you.

When shopping for your crystals it is important to use a variety of senses and not choose purely on

a visual level. It may be that a certain crystal catches your eye but it is important to now use all of

your senses to help you to decide whether or not that particular crystal is right for you. You need to

ensure that the crystal you choose or that chooses you speaks to you on a vibrational and energetic
level. It may be that the crystal that connects to you in this way may not visually be the prettiest of

the bunch and you need to be open to this.

Learn to look, listen, feel and use your intuition. Use your non dominant hand to hover over a

particular crystal that you feel drawn to or over a group of crystals. Focus on what you are feeling in

terms of energy and resonance. If you are feeling drawn to a particular crystal then hold that in the

palm of your hand. It may be that you feel a tingling sensation. Go with what feels intuitively right

to you.

It may be that at certain times you need to shop for a particular type of crystal and if this is the case

use the same process as above just with a selection of that the type of crystal you are seeking at that

time. However do not be surprised if you leave the shop with another crystal as well. This can often

happen and it can often be an indication that the energy of that particular crystal is needed at that

time.

It is also important to note that the points and tips of some crystals may be chipped. In this case see

again how that particular crystal feels to you and how the energy feels. If you have a particular

purpose in mind for that crystal use your intuition to guide you as to whether or not the chipped

point or tip would cause problems. If the crystal still feels right for you then go with how you feel.

Cleansing

Once you have chosen and purchased your crystals it is extremely important that you cleanse them.

It is highly likely that your crystals will have picked up and stored many different energies on their

travels from being mined to being in a shop. Many people may have handled them in that process

and will therefore of transferred their energy onto the crystal.

It is also important to note that the cleansing process will become an extremely important part of

your crystal care and each crystal will need to be cleansed appropriately following each session

with a client.

Also depending on how your crystals are stored they can also pick up energies whilst just being in

your general environment at home not being used. It is therefore very important that they are kept

clear and can be regularly cleansed of any negative energy. As crystals vibrate at a low level they

are sensitive and will pick up on frequencies, vibrations, impurities and other imprints. If crystals

are not cleansed regularly they will become heavy and dense and full of negativity. They will not be

able to work as effectively and even lose their lustre and colour.

Cleansing Practices

There are many different ways to cleanse your crystals. Again use your intuition and cleanse your

crystals as you feel best suits them and yourself. It may be that you find that after a particular

cleansing practice that a particular crystal still doesn't feel as it should. If this happens then try

another cleansing ritual which may suit it more. Also consider energising which we will cover

shortly.

The more you attune to and use your crystals the more you will intuitively know what they need and

what practices best suit each individual crystal that you work with.

These are some ways that you can cleanse your crystals.
* Bury them in your garden for 24 - 48 hrs. The crystals came from and were formed deep

underground and by returning them to a similar environment this will allow the earth to naturally

cleanse them.

* You can wash crystals in running water. This can be under the tap at home or even better in a

running stream. If you have access to a stream it is a good idea to place them in a small net bag

which you can attach to something at the waters edge so as to prevent your crystals being swept

away. 24 hours would be a good period of time for this.

* You can also use some water with a few drops of a Bach Flower Remedy in.

* You can use fire as a tool to cleanse your crystal by passing the crystal through the flame a few

times.

* You can also place a new crystal on a large quartz cluster for a few days.

Energising

As well as cleansing your crystals they may also need energising. Just as humans need food and

water for energy crystals also need to be charged or re energised also. Some of the cleansing

practices also have the ability to energise at the same time such as:

* Placing your crystals in the running water of a stream.

Other ways to energise crystals are:

* Placing male crystals in the sunshine will recharge them naturally using the suns energy. The sun

provides a stronger energy which is why it is suitable for male crystals.

* Placing female crystals in the moonlight will also naturally recharge them using the gentler

energy of the moonlight.

* Placing your crystals outside in a safe place in a thunderstorm is also a way to recharge them

using the natural energy of the thunderstorm.

* Some people also choose to recharge their crystals with their own breath. They do so by sitting

still, grounding themselves and then setting the intention of energising their crystals they breathe

on them several times.

As with cleansing how you choose to energise your crystals is your choice and you may choose

which methods suit you and your crystals best and with what is available to you at that time.

Programming your Crystals

It may be that once you have your crystals and they have been suitably cleansed that you would like

to programme them. Programming your crystals is a way of attuning yourself and your crystal to

one another and also a way of setting the intention and focus for that particular crystal.

It is best to programme your crystals away from any electrical appliances they do not cause any

electromagnetic interference and ensure that the energy within the room that you are using is clear.
To programme your crystal hold it in your hand and set the intention for it within your mind. Focus

purely on your crystal and the intention that you have for it. Focus on the energy of the intention

and transmit this to your crystal. You may find that you know instinctively when this is successful.

This can be carried out as often as you like however it is advised that you first cleanse your crystal

and rid it of any negative energy so that it is then able to be programmed effectively.

Male and Female Crystals

Crystals can be male, female and even androgynous. As we have touched upon above male crystals

should be recharged by the sun and female crystals by the moon.

Female crystals tend to be softer and smoother and more rounded whereas male crystals tend to be

more rough, angular or phallic in shape. Male stones can give out a strong vibration and energy

whereas female stones tend to emit a gentler and more subtle energy.

Male crystals tend to transmit energy whereby female crystals tend to be more receptive to energy

in nature.

As male crystals project energy outwards they can be really useful for sending healing energy,

projecting desires and wishes, aiding with confidence and self assurance and also helping with

willpower and success.

Examples of male crystals are:

 Amber
 Bloodstone

 Carnelian

 Citrine

 Hematite

 Quartz ( clear )

 Topaz

As female crystals are receptive in nature they can be really useful in relieving stress, aiding

fertility, bringing forth love, aiding personal development, wisdom, understanding and intuition and

in all areas of spirituality.

Examples of female crystals are:

 Amethyst

 Calcite ( blue or pink )

 Lapis Lazuli

 Malachite

 Moonstone

 Celestine

 Quartz ( clear, rose, smoky )

 Turquoise

As clear quartz can be both male and female when you choose a quartz feel the energy of the crystal

and go with your intuition. This will help you to know whether the crystal is male or female.

Storing your Crystals

There are many varying views on how best to store your crystals and it is advised that you choose

which method suits you and your chosen crystals the most.

Here are some of the recommended ways to store your crystals safely:

* In individual pouches so as to help them not to chip or become damaged.

* In individual small plastic containers

* In a bowl

* In a wooden box

* On display in your home or office

Some people have strong views on the type of material any form of crystal storage is made out of.

For example some therapist do not like to store their crystals in plastic containers and prefer to use

more natural materials such as silk pouches or wooden boxes.

Some people also don’t agree with crystals being placed in a drawer or a cupboard out of the way

and believe that the crystals themselves do not like to be placed in dark places. Crystals have

however generally been mined out of the ground and would have been in a dark place then.

How to store your crystals really comes down to personal preference. You may decide to have your

crystals out where they can be appreciated or even set out in a way where they are continuing to
work for you. Again use your intuition to guide you and remember that there is no right or wrong

way.

Module 2 – Self Assessment Task

Start to plan your crystal selection or if you already own some crystals then begin to think about

what cleansing and energising rituals you would like to utilise. Also think about how you are

storing your crystals currently and if you feel attuned to the crystals that you have. Begin to

research crystal shops/retailers in your area and plan a trip there. As we move on further into the

course we will cover the most commonly used crystals and we strongly recommend that you

consider purchasing a small crystal of the 20 most commonly used. This will help to aid your

crystal practice as we move further along in the course and will help you to become familiar with

the different energy and attributes of each crystal. Enjoy the process, don't rush and remember if

you can always buy your crystals from a shop and not from the internet as you need to feel and

experience the energy and vibration of each crystal as we will explain shortly.

Module 3 – Self Assessment Task

Continue with your exploration of crystals. Above is just a guide to the18
20 most commonly used

crystals however there are many others to choose from. Consider whether a small guide to crystals

would be useful for your practice. You can obtain these from the internet or a good bookshop. They

are really informative and can help you to choose particular crystals that you may not be

particularly familiar with but that have certain properties and attributes that would be highly useful

within certain areas of your practice. If you do purchase a crystal guide and it is small enough to

take with you when you go to choose your crystals then do so. There may also be times that you
either stumble across a crystal that you aren't familiar with or that you feel drawn to and the guide

can be really helpful in helping you to ascertain how that particular stone would fit into your

practice.
Module 4 - Crystal Shapes and their Uses
Crystals come in many varying shapes and sizes. It is good practice to become familiar with the

various properties of different shaped crystals as this will help you to harness the unique power of

crystals and enable you to utilise them in a variety of ways within your own healing therapies.

Certain crystal forms are natural and others are formed by man. Each shape has a specific use in

healing for example wands are used to focus healing energy onto a certain area and may also be

used to stimulate certain points on the body and draw negativity from that area. Other shapes of

crystals can be used in the home and environment to clear negative energy or to attract abundance.

Take a look at the varying uses of the different shapes below and become familiar with them. This

will help you in both your healing therapy practice and also with your own personal utilisation of

crystals.

Point - Many crystals have points and some of these are naturally occurring whilst others are man-

made. A crystal with a single point may have a definite faceted end and a more ragged base end

which is where it will have been broken away from a base cluster. A single point crystal is most

commonly used in healing to direct energy to a particular point on the body by facing inwards or by

drawing away a particular energy from an area by pointing away.

Double Termination - These crystals have definite points at both ends and may be natural or

artificially shaped by man. This shaped crystal can simultaneously absorb and radiate energy from

both termination points at either end. They are seen as forming balance and can be used in healing

to help to break old patterns and addictions whilst absorbing negative energy.

Cluster - A cluster can be large or small and has many points bedded onto it. They are a formation

of singe pointed/terminated crystal that all share the same base. Clusters tend to radiate energy

outwards whilst also absorbing and drawing in any negative or detrimental energy. Clusters can be

programmed and placed in a room to emit positive energy and draw in the negative and can also be

programmed to cleanse other crystals which can be left overnight on the cluster bed. These crystals

can also be used in distance healing by laying pictures of family or friends upon them.
Geode - Geodes are contained within an outer form. Geodes when opened up are hollow inside and

have many crystals pointing inwards. They are cave like in form and due to the nature of the

placement of the crystals within them they tend to diffuse energy that they have held onto and

amplified. The diffusing of this energy then means that they can if needed slowly release this out.

They are used for spiritual growth and protection and can aid in breaking addictions.
Phantom - These crystals appear to hold one or more “phantom” crystals inside of themselves.

These can either be seen to be distinct crystals formed inside of the main crystal or as shadows

within the crystal. These crystals are said to have known many lifetimes and that the phantom has
absorbed learning over eons of time. This crystal can help with growth and evolution and is also

believed to be able to help people connect to their past lives.

Pyramid - These crystals as the name suggests have four sides and a base and may be naturally

occurring or man-made. Apophyllite form as pyramid shaped crystals and are said to amplify and

then very tightly focus energy through the apex of the crystal and are said to be best used for

manifestation rituals. Pyramid shaped crystals can be used to remove negative energy away from

the chakras and to replenish them with positive energy. This shaped crystal can be found in an

abundance of types of crystal and will amplify that particular crystals properties.

Egg - Egg shaped crystals are just as the name suggests and they can be used in reflexology and

acupressure treatments to apply gentle yet specific pressure to a chosen area. These crystals are also

used to detect and rebalance blockages within the body.

Abundance - This crystals consists of a cluster of crystals at the base with one long quartz crystal

standing out from the cluster. This crystal is as the name suggests to attract abundance and it is best

placed in the point farthest away from your front door to the rear left which is your wealth corner.

Generator - This crystal has six facets which meet equally in a point. This shape is optimum for

generating energy and this crystal has the ability to optimise healing energy. A cluster of generators

can be extremely useful also for generating healing energy and can be used and placed in the centre

of a healing room or group.

Wands - These crystals are most often naturally formed and artificially shaped into a wand

structure. These are what shamans and ancient healers used and they are extremely powerful and

useful tools to use in healing. When using a wand for healing it is important to first set your intent
and then to consciously focus on the universes healing energy entering into your crown chakra and

flowing down your arm and through the wand itself. If you focus on using just your own energy you

will soon deplete yourself and not be open to the healing energies around you.

Module 4 – Self Assessment Task:

If you haven't already done so now would be the time to go and purchase your crystals as we will

be moving onto treatments shortly. You will need some time to cleanse and energise your crystals

as discussed in prior modules and also some time to attune to them. Please do not rush this process

as it is important that you choose the right crystals for you that will aid you with your practice as a

crystal therapist. Now that we have covered the different shaped crystals it may be that you decide

to purchase some of the crystals shapes above to add to your collection. If you are already trained

and practicing in other therapy areas such as Reiki or Reflexology then it may be helpful to have

some other crystals that can be utilised within those treatments for example a wand or an egg. Again

there is no right or wrong way and we strongly encourage you to practice and be guided by your

intuition. The greatest learning begins when you start.

Module 5 – Chakras
Chakra means ‘wheel’ in Sanskrit and in humans these chakras are wheel of energy which are

within the human aura or energy field.

It is believed that life forces called either ‘chi’ or ‘prana’ flow in and out of us via each of the

chakras. Each of the chakras of which there are seven are linked to particular areas of life. If a

chakra is blocked or out of balance then the life energy in that area will also be affected. Balanced,

open and strong chakras ensure that all of our life energies are better and can promote healing.
The chakras are counted from the bottom of the body upwards towards the crown.

1st Chakra - Root/Base This is the chakra of stability, security and our basic needs. If this chakra

is balanced and open we feel fearless and safe. It is located at the bottom of the spine and grounds

us.

Colour - Vermilion Red

2nd Chakra - Sacral This is the chakra associated with emotionality, sensuality and creativity. It

is located approx 3 inches below the navel. It is directed by the principle of pleasure.

Colour - Orange

3rd Chakra - Solar Plexus This is the chakra associated with our will, mental capabilities and

overall personal power. It is located between the navel and the chest and is connected with the

digestive system, metabolism and the pancreas.

Colour - Yellow

4th Chakra - Heart This is the chakra associated with love, compassion, integration and

connection. It is located at the centre of the chest and is connected to the cardiac system, lungs and

the thymus which is responsible for immunity.

Colour - Green
5th Chakra - Throat This is the chakra associated with expression and communication. It is

located in the centre of the throat and is connected to the mouth, jaw, pharynx, palate and also the

shoulders and thyroid gland.

Colour - Turquoise or Aquamarine

6th Chakra - Third Eye This is the chakra associated with foresight, intuition and imagination. It

is located in the centre of the eyebrows just above the bridge of the nose.

Colour - Purple

7th Chakra - Crown This is the chakra associated with our higher self and the higher state of

consciousness. It is located just at the top of the head and is connected to the hypothalamus and the

pituitary gland which regulate the endocrine system.

Colour - White or deep purple

Module 5 Self Assessment Task

Getting to know and understand each chakra is important so take some time to commit these to

memory. You will be carrying out your own chakra balancing treatment and it is advisable that you

take some time now to become familiar with your own chakras and how you feel. Think about if

you have been experiencing any problems in any particular areas that may relate to one of your

chakras and a possible blockage. Take time out to carry out a short meditation once you are familiar

with each chakra and its location on the body. Work up your body moving from one chakra to the

next, meditating on each and how each one feels. Make some notes following the mediation and
highlight any areas that stood out for you. You can then do the same in a further module following

on from your own chakra balancing treatment and note any differences and/or improvements. By

becoming familiar with your own chakras and their connection to your own health and wellbeing

will help you to connect and advise your clients within your own practice.
Module 6 - Self Treatment Exercises and Grounding

Before carrying out any exercise it is vital that you first ground yourself. Grounding is all about

keeping both feet firmly on the ground both in physical and spiritual terms. It is the process by

which you reconnect to the earth’s energy on the physical plane and is a means of ensuring that you

are present and focused on the here and now prior to any self or client treatment. It is important

whenever you are treating a client to remain focused on them and not yourself as the treatment is

very much about them and not you.

To ground yourself prior to a treatment to at any other time where you feel the need to sit or stand

quietly with your feet firmly on the floor. Relax both your body and mind and for a few moments

focus only on your breath. Then imagine that you have long, strong roots coming from the bottom

of your feet and connecting deep within the earth. Imagine these roots offering you stability and

support. Feel the earth’s energy travelling through these roots and into you as you connect as one

with the earth. Do this for a few moments and when you feel ready to gently move from your

position. Having a glass of water nearby may be helpful so that you can have a drink following this

grounding exercise.

Now it is important to really get to know and understand your crystals. Whether you are wanting to

practice as a crystal therapist or just want to enjoy and use crystals for your own personal use

getting to know them is key. If you are aiming to practice as a therapist then it is especially

important to have an understanding for yourself of what the treatments feel like and also to have

that connection to the stones that you will use in treatments on clients.

This next exercise is designed to allow you to get to know your crystals. You will need

approximately 40 minutes if you are to run through the whole exercise and selection of 7 crystals at
one time. You can also break this down and do a few crystals at one time instead as time permits.

As always choose which method will suit you the most. You will also need a pen and paper to hand.

* Ideally you will need a quiet space where you will not be disturbed.

* Select seven crystals from your collection that you feel drawn to work with. These can be any

selection of crystals as this exercise is purely for you to become attuned to and get to them

individually.

* Once you have your selection then set the scene in the room you have chosen. Maybe light a

candle or some incense or even play some soft relaxing music. Create an environment that feels

relaxing and nurturing to you.

* Then choose a place to sit comfortably and choose your first crystal.

* Look at the crystal carefully, turning it over in your hands and study the shape and size.

* Then close your eyes and visualise the store in your mind.

* As you visualise the stone continue to turn it over in your hands and visuals in your mind what

you would be seeing if your eyes where open.

* Then do nothing and focus only on what you feel and what you hear.

* When you feel ready to open your eyes and write down your findings.
Then simply repeat this process for each of your crystals. Keep your findings as these will for part

of your final assessment for certification purposes.

Chakra Balancing

This is a chakra balancing exercise that you can perform on yourself. This will give you an insight

into what this exercise is like for when you carry it out on clients although it is not exactly the same

as someone else performing the treatment out on you.

For this exercise you will need the following crystals:

Hematite - for the base chakra

Carnelian - for the sacral chakra

Citrine - for the solar plexus

Rose Quartz - for the heart chakra

Blue Lace Agate - for the throat chakra

Sodalite - for the third eye chakra

Amethyst - for the crown chakra

Plus two green aventurine crystals.

Have the room prepared as discussed for the getting to know your crystals exercise and have all of

these crystals prepared and next to you.

When you are ready to begin the exercise then:

*Place the hematite at the base of your feet as you sit on the floor and the amethyst where the top of

your head will be when you lay down.

*Place the carnelian on the sacral chakra just below the navel.

*Place the citrine on the solar plexus just newly your breast bone.

*Place the rose quartz on your heart chakra at the centre of your chest.

*Place the blue lace agate onto your throat.

*Place the sodalite just between your brows.

The crystals should be in a straight line along the body.

Now take a green aventurine stone in each hand, resting them in your palm. Try to relax now so that

the crystals don't fall and as you relax let any feelings you have just wash over you. Just be aware of

any particular sensations you feel but just let them be.

If a crystal moves or fall off let it be as it may be a sign that it has done its job and was no longer

needed there.

After around 20 minutes slowly start to remove the crystals starting with your third eye and working

down to your base.

Sit up slowly and see how you feel. Make any notes that you need to. Slowly stand and have a drink

of fresh water.

Module 6 – Self Assessment Task

Now that you have completed your own chakra balancing treatment explore the notes you have

made on your own experience and note any changes or improvements that you feel compared to the

short meditation that you carried out in the previous module. It is important as a crystal therapist or

any therapist for that matter that you remain balanced and practice good self-care. When you are

working with the energy of your own crystals and the energy of your clients it can at times make

you feel drained. To be able to help others to the best of your ability you must ensure that you are

feeling good and balanced so please ensure that you carry out treatments such as this one and/or

short meditations regularly. Not only will this help you in your life overall and therapy practice but

it will also show your clients the benefits of the treatments and practices that you carry out and

therefore promote self-care to them also.

Module 7 - Client Care and Consultation
Prior to working with any client and before we touch upon client treatments it is vital that you have

a good understanding of client care and the consultation process. There are a number of important

factors to consider when you practice as a therapist. Below are all the areas that you need to

consider when treating clients. It is your responsibility as a therapist to ensure that you maintain a

high standard in all of the following areas and ensure that you are covered by an appropriate

insurance body.

Insurance

Before you begin treating clients it is important that you first gain appropriate insurance that covers

you comprehensively for the treatments that you offer.

As a student of the KEW Training Academy you can apply for insurance via the IICT.

Atmosphere and Therapy Space

As a therapist it is your responsibility to ensure that your therapy area is fit for purpose and safe for

both yourself and your clients. It also needs to be an inviting and relaxing space for clients so that

they are able to relax and enjoy their treatment within a conducive environment.

Areas to consider:

Safety

*Are all electrical appliances safe?

*If using naked flames are they in a safe area where they are less likely to be knocked over and not

near anything that could catch fire?

*Are there any trip hazards?

*Do you have a clear workspace?

*Is all of your equipment fit for purpose and safe e.g. couch, seating etc?

Atmosphere

*Is the colour of the room relaxing for the client?

*Do you have ambient lighting e.g lights on a dimmer switch or candles?

*Do you have relaxing music to play where appropriate?

Temperature

*The recommended working temperature is 20 degrees Celsius.

*Do you have a means of controlling the temperature on particularly hot or cold days so that your

clients are comfortable?

*Do you have adequate ventilation within your room? This can be natural ventilation via a window

for example or artificial ventilation via say an electric fan. This is important as inadequate

ventilation can result in a buildup of micro-organisms, stuffy atmosphere, condensation and damp

and a buildup of CO2.

*You may decide as part of your practice to also use aromatherapy by means of a diffuser or burner

to create a calming atmosphere.

Hygiene

*Is your room cleaned regularly and with appropriate cleaning fluid depending on the treatments

that you carry out?

*Are you cleaning down sufficiently in between clients?

*Are you ensuring that your own personal hygiene levels are of a high standard e.g hand washing in

between clients and maintaining a smart, clean and professional appearance?

Preparation for Treatment

*Have you set out all of the equipment that you need prior to the client arriving?

*Is the couch or treatment area clean and have you set out new, clean couch roll and towels as

appropriate? Remember these need to be changed for each client.

Client Consultation

It is important that you carry out a full client consultation prior to treatment. The consultation

process enable you to:

*Establish a rapport with your client

*Explain the treatment and manage expectations

*Gather important information about your clients needs and expectations

*Assess your clients suitability to treatment

*Discuss a treatment plan

*Obtain important medical history information from your client to ensure that the treatment

proposed is suitable

To begin the consultation be yourself and introduce yourself warmly to your client. A warm, firm

handshake can be a good first introduction. Ensure your client is comfortable and that you have the

appropriate client consultation forms to hand.

It is advised that you collect the following information from your client:
*Personal details-Full address, contact number, next of kin, GP name and address, emergency

contact details

*Full medical history

*List of any medication

*Any current ongoing medical conditions or treatments

*Previous and current therapies or treatments

*Recent surgery

*Long term conditions or illnesses e.g arthritis, epilepsy, diabetes etc

*Any recent accidents or injuries

*Physical fitness

*Hobbies

*Emotional wellbeing

*Ensure that you have a disclaimer on your form and that the client signs to say that the information

that they have given you is accurate and true to the best of their knowledge.

Ensure that you develop a consultation form that covers all of the information above for each

individual client. Once a client has completed a full consultation form, for further treatments you

may then ask the client if any of their information has changed. You can then have add on sheets

that you fill in for each treatment thereafter with an added disclaimer that the client signs to say that

all of their information is the same and that nothing has changed since the previous treatment.

It is important that for each treatment you as the therapist also make notes for each treatment of

your findings. Also note down any discussions that you have had with that client and any aftercare

advice given.
Accurate record keeping is vital. It is a way of keeping track of your client’s treatment plan and

progress. It is also a means of ensuring that you are holding true and accurate information of your

client at all times. It is always best to take not of the individual requirements that your insurance

providers recommend so that you insurance is not void.

During the consultation process itself you will need to utilise the following three skills:

Observation-make your own observations of the client. How do they appear to be emotionally and

physically?

Verbal questioning-ensure that you gain all of the information you require prior to treatment.

Physical examination-this may only be needed for treatments that involve touching the client and

them removing some clothing say for example during a massage treatment. For treatments where

the client remains fully clothed and there is no or animal physical contact this will not be necessary.

Listen to your intuition and use open ended questions to help you to tactfully ask your clients about

certain information that you require. Be honest and open with your client and if you feel that a

particular treatment is not the best option for them say so. Remember you are there to guide your

client towards the most appropriate treatment plan for them.

Module 7 – Self Assessment Task

If you are already a practicing therapist in another area take a look at your consultation forms and

look at how these can be adapted to include your crystal therapist practice. If you are not currently

practicing as a therapist and plan to then now would be the time to create a consultation form for

your clients and for your case studies. Make your consultation forms as comprehensive as possible
and remember to always update and check the details of every client prior to the next treatment. For

insurance and legal purposes it is vital that you maintain these records safely, securely and

accurately. Accurate record keeping is a key component of your practice so take the time you need

to ensure that you are happy and satisfied with the client documentation that you produce before

proceeding.
Module 8 - Client Treatments
Once you have successfully set up a safe and relaxing workspace and have carried out the necessary

consultation and paperwork to assess your client fully you can then move forward with treatment.

Following on from your own chakra balancing treatment this can now be performed on a client.

Chakra balancing a client

This treatment will take approximately 30 minutes and is a relatively easy treatment to carry out as

you as the therapist are required to do very little as the crystals work for you.

Your client can lay down on your pre-prepared couch and make themselves comfortable. They may

remove their shoes or any tight fitting accessories such as belts etc as they so wish. They remain
otherwise fully clothed and depending on their preference it may be that they opt to be covered in a

blanket so that they do not become cold during their treatment.

Once the client is ready place the base crystal at the feet. This can be hematite, bloodstone or

another crystal of your choosing.

Next place the crown crystal at the top of the head. This can be amethyst and remember if you

choose to use a terminated crystal have the point facing down towards the client.

Then as you did with your own treatment place the following crystals on the following places:

*Carnelian on the sacral chakra just below the navel

*Citrine on the solar plexus just below the breast bone

*Rose Quartz on the heart chakra in the centre of the chest

*Blue Agate on the indentation on the throat

*Sodalite on the forehead in-between the eyebrows

Then give your client a green aventurine stone to hold in each palm and then move slowly and

quietly away from your client. Remain quiet and encourage your client to relax. It may be that your

client tells you during the treatment about particular sensations that they experience. This is fine and

as the therapist listen and quietly take notes as needed.

After approximately 20 minutes slowly and quietly approach your client. Softly let your client know

that you are about to start removing the crystals so as not to startle them. Start with the crown and

move down the body removing the aventurine crystals from the client’s palms last. Replace these

with two hematite crystals and let your client hold those for a couple of minutes to ground

themselves.

It is good practice to have a fresh glass of water ready for your client and once they are ready ask

them to sit up slowly. Ensure that your client is feeling ok and does not feel light headed or dizzy

after being lay down. Offer them a drink of water and a few moments to ground again.

Obtain feedback from your client and add these to your notes whilst your client is present. This

ensures that you do not forget anything.

Module 8 – Self Assessment Task

Following your first client chakra balancing treatment take some time to reflect. Was there anything

that you would or could have done differently? Did everything run smoothly? How was the

experience for yourself and for your client? Reflection should become a part of your everyday

practice and will help you to continue to hone your skills as a therapist and to help you to provide

the best experience you possibly can for each client. You may decide to have a Reflection Journal

and write your thoughts and feelings down in this so that you have a record of your progress and the

learnings and findings you have experienced along the way.

Module 9 - Crystal Grids and Sets
Crystal Grids and sets can be used for a number of different treatments. They can be used to help to

enhance a particular crystal treatment and laid out in the treatment room near the client or they can

be used for distance treatments or around your home.

Crystal grids may sometimes be more useful and powerful than using a single crystal. They are

made by placing chosen crystals in a geometric pattern for a specific purpose or for directing energy

towards a specific goal.

A few examples of what crystal grids can be used for are as follows:

*To enhance sleep

*To find love

*To reduce anxiety

*To increase prosperity

*To aid healing

To make a crystal grid:

*Set a clear intention and purpose for the grid

*Decide where the grid will be placed. If it is to aid client treatment it may be best placed under the

treatment couch. If it is to aid yourself it may be that it can be placed in a safe place within your

own home.

*Create the right ambience and environment

*Lay out your crystals in a geometric pattern of your choosing. There is no right or wrong way here

so experiment and be guided by your intuition and your crystals.

*Charge your master crystal with the intent for the grid. The master crystal is the crystal you choose

that best fits the overall intention for the grid so for example for a Love Grid Rose Quartz may be

the best master crystal to use.

*Relax and ground yourself as you place out your grid.

It may be beneficial to take photos or records of the different crystal grids that you use and make

notes on their efficacy so that you can use them again.

Personal grids and distance grids may be left out for as long as you would like them to be. For the

sending of intent and energy over a distance it may be beneficial to have a photo or a belonging of

the person that the energy is meant for.

It may be that you would like to set up your own grids within your own home to help you to

manifest your desires and goals. It could be that you may want to create an abundance grid and

therefore you choose certain wealth crystals such as citrine, pyrite and aventurine. Or you may

decide that you want to set out a health and wellness grid and you choose to use healing stones such

as fluorite, sodalite and angelite.

It may be that during a consultation with a client that they highlight a particular area in their lives

where they are experiencing difficulty and that you choose to set up a grid for them to further

enhance their treatment and aid them in this area. It may also be that a client if given the

opportunity may be drawn towards a particular crystal that then may guide you further towards

what the client needs at that time.

Module 9 Self Assessment Task

You can choose to implement crystal grids into your practice as you so wish. The key is to

experiment and explore what feels right for you and your clients. Crystal grids are creative by

nature so allow yourself the time to set out a number of grids in a way that feels intuitively right for

you. Remember to record your findings and take photos of the grids that work best for you. Also
enjoy the creative process. Really allow your energy to flow as you create your own grids. This is a

personal and flexible process and again it is important to stress that there is no right or wrong way

just your way.

Module 10 - Crystal Pendulum Dowsing
Crystal Pendulum Dowsing can be used in a therapeutic situation by a crystal therapist to help them

in the following areas:

*To choose crystals or colour sets for a client

*To choose essential oils for a client

*To choose a grid type for a client

*To highlight a particular chakra that needs attention

As with buying any crystals if you choose to add a crystal pendulum to your therapy practice use

your intuition to choose the right pendulum for you. It is important that you attune with your crystal

and that you have a clear understanding of how to work bets with your pendulum.
With any crystal pendulum work it is vital that you ascertain a clear ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ from your

crystal. A good way to do this is to hold your pendulum approximately 3 inches above the palm of

your hand by the string or metal chain that it will be attached to. Then simply ask it what is my

‘Yes’ and see what movement the pendulum makes and the same again for what is my ‘no’. Do this

several times so that you are clear.

Once you have this understanding you can use them in a variety of different ways to enhance your

practice and treatments. Some therapists will ask their crystal which crystal colour sets will be good

for a client by holding their pendulum over the different grouped together crystals.

Others use the pendulum to choose essential oils/aromatherapy oils for a particular client prior to

treatment. They hold the pendulum over each oil and ask of that oil is the right one for their client.

Some therapists also like to use their pendulums to help them to highlight any chakras that may

need extra attention. They do this by holding the pendulum over each chakra and asking if the

pendulum if that particular chakra needs further work.

Pendulum work requires patience and practice. You may find that as you grow as a crystal therapist

that you find your own unique ways of working with your pendulum.

Module 10 - Self Assessment Task

TASK: As you practice and explore remember to make notes. Highlight what works well and what

not so much. Remember your practice will evolve and that this is a natural part of any therapy

practice. Take the time needed to explore your own crystal pendulum practice and be as creative as

you please in introducing this tool into your own practice.

Module 11 - Developing your Crystal Practice

It is important that you allow yourself to experiment and find what works well for you as you

continue to develop your crystal practice. The more you work with your crystals and attune to them

the more they will help you in your work as a therapist. Intuition is key and if for some reason

something does not feel right then listen to your internal guidance and stop.

Work with the crystals that you are most drawn to and that feel right for the particular task in hand.

You will learn with practice to trust your intuition and to easily be able to choose particular crystals

for your work.

As we have explored crystals can be so very easily integrated into your everyday life whether it be

by being placed in certain areas of your home to perform a task or by being laid out in a grid with a

fixed intention. The more you utilise and work with your crystals the easier and more fluent your

relationship with them will be.

It may be that you are already trained in other holistic practices such as Reflexology, Massage or

Reiki and would like to integrate the use of crystals into these practices also. Remember there is no

right or wrong way to do so and you must learn to trust your own intuition. It may be that you

decide to have your clients holding certain crystals pertinent to them at the time whilst you perform

another treatment or it may be that you intend to use the crystals in a more active role for example

within a reflexology treatment. You may decide to use a stone gently on the foot as a means of

treating a particular area in a more holistic fashion.

As long as you feel safe and guided to do so and your client is comfortable do not be afraid to

experiment. As a therapist you may even go on to develop your own unique treatments and even

therapies. Just think every treatment and therapy available today started as a thought in someones
head that then got translated into practice. There is no reason why you cannot do the same as long

as you continue to act ethically and responsibly. Within todays market place it may be your own

unique take on a treatment or particular way of doing something that makes you stand out and

draws clients to you.

Allow yourself time and be patient. Be mindful of your energy when around your crystals and

always strive to provide the best treatment you can for your client. Do this and you cannot go far

wrong.

Module 11 – Self Assessment Task

If you are ready please move onto your assessment paper and case studies or alternatively carry out

some further practice and/or reading before you begin. The best way to continue to grow and

develop is to implement and practice what you have learnt. Implementation is key and this is where

the true learning in this field begins. We hope you enjoy completing your question and answer

paper and your case study practice and we look forward to assessing them.
