This paper is entitled Future Directions of Management Science and Operations Management in

Business School Curricula. The paper talks about the five indicators that indicate that Operations
Management has a bright future in the business curriculum. These trends include a greater focus on
global competition, the expansion of the supply chain as a competitive weapon, increased participation
of the Operations function in the formulation of business strategies, the continued dominance of the
service sector over the manufacturing sector in developed economies, and an increase in demand for
general management skills over technical skills among business school graduates.
