I had big plans for myself. I was a graduate of Elementary Education specializing in Special Education in Leyte Normal
University Tacloban. I graduated on the year 2016, and passed the licensure exam on the same year. I really wanted to be teacher
just like my previous English teacher, Ma’am Lilibeth Clave. I really admire her dedication and passion in teaching us, that’s why
as early as in my 3rd grade in elementary nakadecide naak nga mag teteacher ako. But I didn’t expect nga it would be so hard and
rocky road journey an pagiging maestra. I worked 2 years in a private school in Cebu to gain experience for ranking purposes,
been in an ESL company for a couple of years too and went back to Leyte to have my ranking. Fortunately way back 2019, the
first time I had my ranking journey, I was able to be part of the D.0 7 or RQA in Deped. I was so happy because I thought it sunod
na nga mahihitabo magiging teacher naak. But unfortunately, there are still no available items for us that year, so waiting game la
anay. I went back to Cebu again to work because I don’t want to be a tambay ha balay kind of daughter, so there I worked again in
another ESL company where I teach English to Japanese students. After several months, I need to go home to update my points in
DEPED and some recommendation to be a substitute teacher in Alangalang 3. I was then fortunate to be chosen as a substitute
because it would be a great help in achieving points for my ranking purposes. And now, I also just underwent another ranking and
hopefully for this second time around, I can have my own item already.
Life doesn’t usually follow the plans you lay out for yourself. You will all experience the highs and lows of life, the difficult
and the easy and unfortunately, there may sometimes be time of too many difficulties and just not enough smooth sailing. Your
true success will be defined by how you handle both of these times.
You have taken a key step towards your successful future and also the betterment of your family and community. You’ve
worked hard, spending months in modular learning due to the pandemic and luckily experience months or weeks in face to face
classes. I know how difficult it is to experience learning with this way, but you’ve showed to us now how dedicated are you as
students and graduates.
Let me leave you with this thought from Ralph Waldo Emerson. “ Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead,
where there is no path and leave a trail. Congratulations and Keep going batch 2021-2022 Graduates of Pepita Elementary School!
