“The Beach Trip”

Writing Practice – Finish the Story

Directions: Read the story below. Then finish it with your own writing.

I had a fun day today. I went to the beach with my family. It was my first time I had gone to the

beach in North Carolina.

We woke up early and drove for two hours until we reached the beach. There was a lot of traffic.

We finally found a parking spot and walked to the sand. It was pretty outside and the beach was very

crowded. There were a lot of kids playing.

My dad set up a big umbrella. I laid my towel out on the sand. My mom helped me put on

sunscreen. I didn’t want to get sunburned.

I walked down to the water and stuck my toes in. The water was warm. It felt good. I walked back

to my family and told my brother to come swimming with me.

“I don’t want to,” he said.

“Why not?” I asked.

“I’m afraid of sharks,” he said.

”There are no shark here,” I said.

“There could be a beached shark on this beach.” He said

“No way, just trust me” I said convinsed him.

10 minutes he thought about it and he finally agreed to swim with me. I took my brother to
swimming

together. We made sand castle on the beach, also racing underwater and the loser was sentenced to
hold

their breath in the water for 10 seconds.

After we got tired of playing in the water and then my dad, who at that moment was just watching
us, took

us to look for crabs on the beach. I am so excited to find a little crabs. Crabs aren’t easy to find
because

they’re so nimble and the crab’s skin is the same color as the sand on the beach. A few hours later,
we got

hungry. Then my mother called us to eat together. When i finished eating, I played again and also
collected

shells.
Soon it was getting late in the afternoon, and my mother ordered me to change my clothes because
my

clothes were wet and covered in sand. Before coming home I bought some gifts like key chains,
clothes and

more.Along the way to the shopping center we saw some very beautiful trees.

The air is very mild there. On the way my brother and I fell asleep. After arriving in the shopping
center ,

we were awakened by mother. In the shopping center also food and sweets.

After finishing our shopping, we returned home. I feel so good about going there with my family and
i

won’t forget it. If iI get another chance I’ll visit that place again because the view is so beautifu
