Descriptive Essay

It was my first time at Caye Caulker, in the middle of Easter break. The salty, refreshing breeze

that blows in your face when on the boat is enough to make you go and never return back to the

city. As I reached I hurried out of the boat to set my small toes in the sand and wiggle them. I

stumbled in the sand and lay on my back as I dozed off into the cloudless, vibrant blue sky. As I

snapped back to reality I noticed my brother and mom running towards me worried. They

thought I dropped in the water. I giggled as I ran from them hiding behind a tall coconut tree. A

good way to start our family vacation.

Bringing my attention back to my surroundings I noticed kids my age building sand

castles out of random stuff they found on the beach. I remember seeing young couples holding

hands having a good time and acting like their the only one in this world, while walking along

the shoreline enjoy the nice view of God’s creation. I closed my big brown eyes as i take my

time to intake my surroundings. I went and run my hands in the cool blue sparkling water and

run them through my light brown shoulder length curly hair. I stood there enjoying the salty

smell of the morning air tickling my nostrils. My brother went and put me on his back and

starting running as we both laughed. I made seagull noise and my brother laughing so hard. We

were having the time of our lives without a care in the world. In the evening i got dressed up in

my floral dress with my white slippers and my mom in her long green floral dress and my

brother in his floral button shirt. We went to take a walk along the beach and getting sand in

between our toes. As we headed to the pier we silently watched the slanting rays of the setting

sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky. We felt the warmth of the sun on our sun burned faces.

As we took out time and walked back to our hotel room we saw people dancing in the streets,

vendors selling fast food, the clown blowing balloons and just the sound of kids my age

laughing. When we got to our room I jumped under the big blanket and fell asleep.

I woke up to sound of birds chirping and my mom playing soft music. I slipped into my

bath suit and brushed my teeth and put my hair in a rampled buns. I put on my green flip flops

and my family and i went to eat breakfast at restaurant by the shoreline. I felt comforted by the

sound of the rolling waves crashing into each other the seagulls make noise, distant laughter of

people and the chef utensils knocking into each other as he makes food. The smell of pancakes

and eggs with bacon captured my nose and made it tingling and made me feel more hungry.

When i got my plate of food i devoured it. My mom watched me as if it was my first time eating.

I grinned at her as i stuffed my little fat face with food. After i full my tummy we went to

explore the island before we went to cool down in the water. We started along the shore line and

I found some cool seashells of all colors. Then i found a snail and thought it was gary from

spongebob. I was quite disappointed when my mom tell me is not. I went about my day. We

walked for so long i felt as if i dropped a lot of weight lol. I felt as if my tiny feet went numb and

i turned red as a lobster. After that we went to eat again cause damn i was hungry. After we had

the best ceviche that was properly seasoned we went and throw ourselves in the dark blue waters

and we cooled. Chilling by the sand where the water is washing up i sat there and let my skin

absorb the hot rays from the sun and i got more sun burn where i wasn't even my original skin

color. The fly past so fast it was already the evening we got out of the water and got ready to

head back to the hotel. We stroll along the beach and the brown sugar sand sinks my feet under

leaving a long trail of my tiny footprint perfectly shaped.

After a long day I was put to sleep by the sounds of the ocean crashing against the shore

and the wind blowing in my face and singing in my ear. Such a peaceful atmosphere. I got up

around 7 in the night and was energized, wanting to go out with my mom and brother just to

enjoy the last night. We went into the town where the entertainment was. It was just a night to

remember with all the drums beating. People dancing, and the smell of the oil frying unhealthy

food, but who cares if it's fast food and it is delicious so no one cares. I was doing my lil dance.

You know how a 7 year old goes. I had a blast that night.

A good way to end the family vacation. I wish to stay here longer. When I look back on

this memory I wish to recreate it again. I know if i do this again this will be my comfort zone and

my peace. All things seemed perfect and free. That childhood memory brought back so many

peaceful thoughts that it's a must that I go now like how I'm older. There is nowhere in this world

that I would want to go other than Caye Caulker.
