In the ordinary language, the meaning of directing is giving instructions and

control people in their job.

In our everyday life, we see many examples of directing which are a cafe
manager directing his employees to serve people effectively and efficiently or a
teacher directing students to complete their tasks, etc.

In the given examples, we see that every time directing happens to accomplish
any given goals or objectives.

So it is a major function of management. It has some specific characteristics


like other functions of management.

managers can’t sit freely. He has to always guide, overlook and motive his co-
workers.

Directing is infectious function which performs by various levels of managers in


different places. Every manager has to always guide, overlook and motive his
co-workers to achieve organizational goals or objectives smoothly and timely.
Directing is also a time consuming process. It effects every single indiviables,
groups , and departments, etc.

4. Flows from Head to Tail:

In an organization, managers give directions or orders to their employees.


Managers direct his co-workers and workers follow the directed path by the
managers.

5. Performance Oriented:

Directing is the performance oriented approach. The main purpose of directing


is doing work in efficient manner. It also helps to convert plans in the real
world.

Building performance is the tag line of directing. Directing process refers to the
performance of people to accomplish the organizational objectives.

Directing is all about the build coordination in an enterprise. Managers are


directly directing to their sub-ordinaries.

It also helps to get rid from the confusion or misunderstanding of an


organization. So the best way to build relation between employees is directing.

7. Better Communication:

Directing helps to develop better communications of various people in an


organization. When managers direct an overall department, communication is
very important for the better implementation of order which is given to the
employed person.

8. Human Element:

Directing process refers to the knowledge and casting of human behavior. It


improves the internal and as well as external relations.

It motivates employees to work with the best performance.
