Problems/Challenges Faced
During the recently held 2nd NCR JPIA E-Lympics hosted by the NFJPIA-NCR, which
is an online e-sport event for its members, it offers 8 different games such as Mobile Legends,
Call of Duty Mobile, Valorant, Chess, Tetris Battle, etc. for its members to participate in.
After the registration process, the number of participants of the event was huge so the
preparation process was very crucial for the organizers. During the event, issues and concerns
from the participants were not avoided. Cheating or piloting, participants not following the rules,
and conflict of game schedules are some of the problems faced by the organizers. A lot of
concerns are coming and there are only three project heads to handle the problems being raised
by the participants. The number of working committee members were also outnumbered by the
number of participants, thus, it became very difficult for the organizers of the event so the
organizers had a difficult time in addressing all of the concerns. And these are the major
problems faced by the NFJPIA-NCR during the recent event under the non academics
department.

Solution to the Problem/Challenge

The process to solve the particular problem/challenge
As the host of the event, the organization must stand firm and strict with the
implementing rules and regulations of the event. But aside from it, they must also listen to the
concerns of the participants before making a decision.
Since lack of manpower is the main problem faced by the organization, they have
outsourced their working committees from different departments and universities which have an
experience with online tournaments. The organization also set a meeting for orientation and
guidelines during the event so that the working committee will be guided accordingly and for a
smooth flow of events. For the solution of the participants not following the rules of the game,
the organizers first listened to the concerns being raised. Then, after carefully deliberating the
situation, the organization came up with a solution. The organizers decided to give a first
warning to every team that will not follow the rules and if the participating team did it twice, the
team will be disqualified. For the piloting issue, the organizers set a rematch with the team being
accused of piloting the game but this time, with a camera facing the screen of the player and the
player’s face, Lastly, for the conflict of game schedule, the organizers followed the released
schedule for the betterment of the event and the players must strictly follow it since they should
be committed to the event when they registered. If the organizers adjust the game schedule, the
whole flow of the event will be affected so if the players are not present in their scheduled game,
the opposing team will win by default.

Learnings from the Problem/Challenge

Conducting an event is challenging. It requires time and dedication from the organizers,
and organizers must have good communication skills when organizing an event because issues
and concerns from participants, or from the project team may arise. Through the aforementioned
problems and challenges encountered by the organization, it helped them become stronger and it
developed their leadership skills. These problems will help them do better in their next event and
it also gives them experience in conducting online tournaments. It also helps them enhance their
communication skills especially when addressing concerns. Also, planning ahead of time and
foreseeing possible issues from each game and for the whole event is crucial and should also be
prioritized so that it could be addressed reasonably. Facts, evidence, and other relevant
information should also be taken into consideration when making a decision.
