Dear Parents,
This week we will be talking about what happens during
different weather conditions. Your child’s homework is to
bring a written sentence describing various types of weather.
Remember that every child in our classroom is on a different
developmental level and to encourage your child to put forth
their best effort when writing. Choose the best method to
assist your child in writing their sentence. We are studying
nouns. Point these out as your child states them and writes
them in their sentence. Remind your child that sentences
always start with a capital letter and end with a punctuation
mark. Please return your child’s writing by_________ so that
they can enjoy showing it to the other students in our room.
Before your child begins to write, talk with your child about
the different types of weather and ask them what they
remember learning about weather in class . To ease the
writing process you can use this sentence frame to assist your
child; The clouds are _____ and the weather is _______.
Encourage your child to add details to their illustration. Your
child’s writing will be hung in the classroom and then kept in a
class book for them and their classmates to enjoy throughout
the year. At the end of the year I will place all their writings
into their kindergarten portfolio.
