Our school adopted the McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders
program with plans to implement this year. During Unit 1
Personal Narratives are taught. I created this resource to use
as a brief assessment of students writing during the first week
of school. I will not fully teach Personal Narratives during this
week. This will allow me to focus more on skills with which
they need more practice during Unit 1.
~I have included two topics and two graphic organizers~
My Favorite Vacation and My Summer Vacation

Here’s My Plan:
Tuesday :
• Introduce Personal Narratives
•Discuss Parts of a Personal Narrative
•Introduce Topics/Brainstorm
Wednesday:
•Graphic Organizers/Pre-write
Thursday:
•Complete First Draft and Begin Final Draft
Friday:
•Complete Final Draft
•Illustrate a picture of vacation on the postcard
template
